Yeah, I liked this release.
File size: 344 MB (HQ MKV), 183 MB (LQ MKV)
Japanesiness: Honorifics.
Karaoke. The OP has got some really cool color-changing shit going on. But the transitions between lines are distracting. The ED starts as an insert song then morphs into the ED and keeps up the style shown in the second image. It’s okay.
Typesetting. I liked it.
Okay, you won’t see this if you watch the episode normally, but if you skip to a section ahead or before the point you’re at, it’ll break. It’ll continue fucking up the video for a while, too. This happens in a lot of places.
I’m using the newest CCCP, on a computer that can handle anime, so let’s not blame me for this one.
Edit: I dunno. I seem to be the only one with this problem, so I’m just ignore this for the grade portion unless it’s not an isolated incident.
You should probably accent the “am” here.
I understand the stylistic choice behind putting a comma behind every “too”, but at some point you need to edit for aesthetics as well. Make this line “Not you too, Dad!”
Hard is not the word I’d use here. Unless it was followed by something, of course. Go with
“I’m sure the accident was hard on you,” or “I’m sure the accident caused you some trouble,”
*sigh*
You should accent the “have” here. How do you do that in an italicized line? Simple. Make the word of choice in normal font.
I keep going on and on about the accents because they’re useful tools to help engage the viewer with the anime. Lines flow better when they’re properly used. Obviously, they’re not a big fucking deal, and I don’t weight them much in the reviews I’ve been doing, but I do feel that they’re a great tool for advanced editing (and if all you’re doing is editing CR scripts, you’d better be providing more than just a spellcheck before you release).
Watchability: Quite watchable.
Overall grade: A-
Assuming the fucked-up video is only on my end, this release gets an A-. I’m gonna say Chihiro’s is the best release for Kamisama Dolls, based on the other releases I’ve seen so far.
It’s probably related to open-GOP, somehow. Or, who knows really. I actually thought CCCP had fixed open-GOP a long time ago, so it could be something else x264 did. But anyway, I’m on the 7/20-02 beta and I can seek to like 40000 places in the video and it works fine. So, not sure.
To be honest, nobody else pointed this out, and we’re all running recent CCCP betas so we can’t exactly find out ourselves (and Aegisub amazingly plays fine when seeking in the workraws for me, so I can’t tell in Aegisub when I’m QCing).
Legit. I’ll chalk it up to something on my end, although I’ll keep a note of it in the review.
I wonder how that period after the question mark got there.

Mou, Pilot-kun~
Work harder next time to make sure those evil periods don’t escape from their jail cell! >:D
