Am I doing it right? I need to know because I really wanna fit in with the cool kids who can only express their thoughts through memes.

Japanesiness: Honorifics. Japanese name order.
English style: American English.

I would advise against visiting their site though. The community is basically Gaia meets Reddit.

Note: There are two karaoke tracks. One with more fancy karaoke and one with more plain karaoke.
Table of Contents
Visual Quality
Karaoke.
Opening. Works fine and I much enjoyed the typesetting. Not sure about the color choice, though.
Insert. I do love insert karaoke.
Ending. At first, the color choices make sense. But then they must have put them on a randomizer or something because they don’t match up with the girls on the screen half the time after that. Can’t say I’m particularly fond of the font here either.
Typesetting.
Linda? Aww shit, you know what it’s time for now!

Other.
Great stuff throughout the episode.
Script Quality
Karaoke.
OP/ED/Insert were fine.
Main Script.
No complaints here.
…fuck. That means I need to go back in and find good lines from the script to fill this review up. Goddammit.
These are excellent character-defining lines for Sonata. Even if you don’t get her personality from her actions, these lines let you know that she’s a happy-go-lucky character without much sense for social mores.
This is a great example of… uhh, using an exclamation mark where it’s needed.
Okay, I’m out of ideas. Gimme a break. I’m going to bed.
Timing Review
Incoming. When “Timing Critique” is added as a category, you’ll know this part is done.
Results.
Watchability: Most assuredly watchable.
Timing Grade:
Visual grade: B
Script grade: A
Overall grade (timing results not factored in): A-
This release is the only option, but even if it wasn’t, it’d probably still be the best one to get. Excellent job.
I suppose ISHYGGDT stands for “I seriously hope you guys’re gonna do this”? I guess that works.
The “Oh, fiddlesticks!” and “‘Cause I don’t got a ticket.” belong to Shinonome Sonata, not Kanzaki Suzuko (“Linda”).
As for the latter half of the ED’s kara colours, they’re not randomized: They’re done in a rainbow, as all the girls (across all their colours) make appearances during those lines in the later part of the ED. Praise to Calyrica from Shini-subs for helping us with the kara styling!
Well, they were randomized in episode 2; the fonts were fixed and pretty rainbows added starting episode 3.
Shows how unobservant I am ^^’

Someone needs an editor.

I wrote this in preparation of a sequel.
For the ED, Haali doesn’t load OpenType fonts, so that’s not what the ED’s supposed to look like.
This is what it was supposed to look like (taken from Episode 4): http://i.imgur.com/C1R7o.jpg
No Haali loads open-type fonts just fine, but not when you mux with MKVMergeGUI > 5.0.1.
If you want open-type muxing to work correctly you should be muxing with 5.0.1 or earlier.
Oh, didn’t know that. Thanks for the info.
And apparently, they muxed with 4.1.0
Says in the encoding settings pastebin that they used 5.5
Er, forgot to mention that it was from Episode 4. I misread ar’s statement “5.0.1 or earlier” as “5.0.1 or later,” so I didn’t take that into consideration.
“that” being the episode where I got the info from.
Yep. Haali doesn’t support loading fonts with a MIME type other than the default application/truetype (or whatever it’s called). Older versions of mkvmerge set all fonts to this type whereas newer ones set OTF fonts to another type (which is technically the correct behaviour but Haali doesn’t like it). I ran into this issue recently myself.
I think you can set an option on more recent versions of mkvmerge to force it to set the MIME type for the fonts to something Haali supports, but it’s probably easier to just use an earlier version like 4.1.1.

I think you’ve been watching too many fansubs I think.

There’s a limit to how much TV sources can be improved (my own encodes are still pretty far from perfect), but they should at least start with using a better channel. Do correct me if they’ve stopped using tvk caps for later episodes.
They are still using crappy tvk as of Episode 5.
Where did you hear that? We had a few raw acquisition issues which led to our using tvk for episode 2, but all the other episodes have been Teletama. The lack of TV station logo is because hellborn de-logos all our releases.
>de-logo
>2012
Is there a problem or disadvantage to that?
I guess people just feel it’s an extra unnecessary filter to introduce. I don’t really mind either way as long as removing the logo doesn’t introduce artifacts.
>These are excellent character-defining lines for Linda.
Actually, her name is Sonata.
The green-haired girl is Linda.
Also, the ED karaoke is supposed to look like this. There was an unofficial patch released to fix it.

Yeah, it was the otf font thing that broke the ED and typeset. To save the trouble, I ended up just converting all the fonts to ttf for later episodes.
Thanks for the review.
I went and checked and it’s only ep2 that’s broke. This is what it’s supposed to be (from ep3):

For reference, I’m using DirectVobSub with xy-vsfilter, “auto-load subtitles” option is off.
The patch on their release post fixed ep2.
I believe HorribleSubs is using their own script for this one, and I hear it’s pretty bad at parts. Perhaps a review is in order?
They dropped it after episode 1.
Those were just troll/joke subs they did for one episode. I don’t think they ever had any intention to do the whole series.

I thought this was just how we quoted lines these days? *shrug*

Wait, shit…
Lyger’s TLing is amazingly amazing. So creative with his words!
