It’s Crunchyroll typesetting. Spoiler’d it cuz there’s a lot and I doubt anyone is all that interested in it.

To their credit, while they can’t do all the shit that most groups’ typesetters can (fonts are copyrightable), they did translate every notable sign and did color-matching. Better than some groups (Hey, Doremi~).

Other.

No alternate colors for overlaps. It can be confusing at times.

Script Review

Main Script.

It would actually be “get” rather than “got” but this show sucks, so who cares?

You know what I hate more than the poor English? This show. (Okay, show jokes over now.)

“You’ve reached a level that no human should attempt to reach!”

“he”, “him”, “she”, “her”, “they”, etc.

These subs really hate people’s names, resulting in phrasing more stunted than a midget’s growth.

“Don’t you think you’re overdoing it, Yuuta?”

Wow, so the line can be in English!

Pointy? I dunno, that whole line doesn’t really do it for me.

Going with the liberal sense of pointy, I’d make it “Ogi may be big, and a bit scary looking, but you don’t need to be afraid of him.”

Except he’s talking about individual cakes, not one giant cake to cut into pieces.

That last bit doesn’t work. It’s close, though.

“I would have a vampiric craving for blood even if I had to commit crimes to get it.” is what he’s supposed to be saying. {Vampiric bit is take it or leave it.}

I get the feeling I’m missing the joke here.

What Crunchyroll Did Well

I’m… I’m sorry. I do have stuff to talk about (like the praiseworthy characterization), but this show… it’s just so bad. I am completely drained. I’m just gonna watch an episode of Psycho-Pass and pass out.

Watchability: CR spells watchable. Not the greatest tagline, but whatever.

Your only option for this show is Crunchyrips. But I can see why no group wanted to touch this shitty show — it’s terrible.

  The show is so depressingly terrible, not even a joke script could save it. You’d have to throw out the Japanese voices and replace them with an English dub written by an experienced scriptwriter in order to make it bearable, like what ADV had to do with Ghost Stories.

    That (Ghost Stories) was kind of what I was thinking about. Maybe I’ll be dumb and try to make a script of an episode, realize it’s hopeless, then quit halfway through or something.

      Spoiler confirmed for not working here either. Unless this is an elaborate troll to show that nothing was conventionally typeset so all signs were left out of the typesetting portion of the review? Or maybe D_S just broke something? Yeah, that’s more likely.

        except signs WERE typeset… not that I watched this catastropically bad shitshow, but there’s clearly a typeset visible in one of the main review images.

The reason no group touched this show: Typesetting-wise, it’s Acchi Kocchi all over again, and most of us learned our lesson the first time.

        Anyway, I finally got off my ass and asked our TL about the song. We’re on it. 06 is completely edited for the regular script and I can easily see an 06 release tomorrow. 07 I’ll likely fuck around with until Thursday night.

        It was a joke. Darkness Night rips off the chorus of Love Phantom (in the instruments, not the words). It’s probably not enough for a copyright infringement suit, but it’s way too much to be a coincidence.

        Well, I guess it’s in the vocal melody too–basically everything except what you’re actually dealing with, the words. So completely unhelpful for the purposes of actually subbing it.

    What happened was I put the spoiler in as a placeholder for the typesetting images, but hit “post” before putting anything in there.
    
    People were right to assume that
    A. The spoiler was broken (we’ve had issues with it before)
    B. I was making some kind of dig at Crunchyroll for not typesetting anything (though when I do that kinda thing I’m usually much more obviously sarcastic)
    C. Dark_Sage fucked up “somehow” (Bingo. natsukashii-ne wins the prize)
    
    I fixed it when I got up around 4 AM to cancel my flight out to Arizona, but wasn’t in the state of mind to let anyone know until I woke up 4 hours later, so that’s why some people thought it was fine and others didn’t.

      What is more likely:
      
      A. Dark_Sage messed with the spoiler tag to produce code that looks the same, acts the same, but hides the content completely.
      B. Dark_Sage praises CR for typesetting everything and makes a dig at Doremi for being worse than official subs while there was no typesetting.
      C. Dark_Sage forgot to add the pictures.
      
      With those options, C is pretty much guaranteed. ;)

You know, I probably understand why there’s no other group willing to sub it.
It’s pretty difficult to get the jokes (translate them in English culture-kinda thing) and those background moving texts are pretty difficult to typeset as well.
But, if you know Japanese (to a level where many anime lovers reach after watching shit-load of anime), this show is pretty damn enjoyable.
