(me with a Tommy gun baby)
The phrase is “Please get some rest today.”
Whilst “Yes, yes…” may be the direct translation, that’s not what she’d be saying in English. It would be “Fine, fine…” or “Okay, okay…” or “All right, all right…” or “Yeah, yeah…” or–
Well, I guess you get the picture. Pretty much any affirmative repetition other than what Crunchyroll had would work here.
You know in Higurashi how Shion has to rip three of her own fingernails off? Yeah, I’d prefer doing that to ever having to read this translation again. This is kidney stone-tier phrasing.
Your human speech is getting better, but it needs a bit of work. Try “Are you feeling all right?”
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
That’s not a sensible response.
“You never fail to amaze me.”
Illya doesn’t strike me as the kind of girl who’d use “inconsequential” in a sentence. Try “useless”.
Switches don’t “click into place”.
Better imagery would have been “something turned on inside me” or “something flipped inside me”.
are
It would be “proper work attire” if you’re set on this phrasing of the line. By definition, “uniform” already conveys a sense of propriety.
1. “extra act” doesn’t mean what you think it means.
2. …because “extra act” doesn’t mean anything.
3. So you’d just use “act” here, or replace it with something more descriptive/sarcastic like “You can cut the elaborate performance, Nee-san.”
How is the third line supposed to answer the second line’s question?
A Fuckyoustation 3. Seriously, the fuck is up with those last two lines? This is supposed to be a professional translation.
Other than those fabulous mistakes, the phrasing in these subs is just, well…
If the writing were any more wooden, this release could be a nature preserve.

Give me an hour or so to get UTW’s review done and we’ll see how their release compares to this one. The results may surprise!
They also may not.
Are you tying saying UTW might not best??
Perish the thought. Don’t you know fansubbing’s greatest translator — Raze — translated this show? The script will be nothing short of perfection.
Wait, I thought that Vale was literally Jesus.
He is, and he’s definitely the basest translator around, despite not speaking English or Japanese natively. Of course, we have to rank Raze the highest since he’s run the greatest group into the
groundhighest spires of fansubbing. What about 8th? I thought the best anime translator was one that doesn’t translate anime.
Everybody knows I’m the best translator
Let’s be serious.
This rule already seems to apply to editors, so sure.
Clearly the best person in any field is one who does not participate in it.
Experience is for nerds.
Of course. You can never screw up if you don’t participate.
This is a very thinly veiled attempt at getting me to release Hyobu soon, isn’t it?
Don’t you know you catch more Sages with honey than vinegar?
Let’s face it, no amount of ass kissing is gonna make you release Hyoubu soon. Its in permanent stasis.
coz D_S => Daiz
imagine the amount of animu that are stalled.
:[
Hey, the only Underwater show that’s currently stalled is Rinne no Lagrange, and that show sucks anyway.
LagRin does not suck, Xythar. (though I prefer S1 than S2)
/insert the trademark poses of our heroines here
And from UTW:
Are you guys doing the Chuunibyou OVA?
Yes, we are. It’s stalled at Daiz though, who is fixing up some of the signs.
Nisemonogatari BDs where?
They’ll be out eventually.
>I hope he’s not the person
Carnival Phantasm Batch where?
When it gets done, I guess.
>Same as above
The Chuu2 OVA isn’t particularly exciting and you can just watch gg’s. There’d have been no delay if Sutai had done his job in the first place, anyway.
And no, he has nothing to do with the other two.
Also, Rinne S2 sucked so hard I dropped it like 3 episodes from the end and never looked back. I’d also question the sanity of anyone who has actually waited like a year for a simulcast edit.
To be fair, I don’t think Raze has ever claimed to be the best thing since sliced bread. It’s not exactly his fault if people like his subs and put him/his group on a pedestal.
I guess I’m just not sure why you seem to particularly enjoy bashing UTW since they’re far from the worst group and don’t make a conscious effort to stand out.
Agreed. I also like the posts that Raze made. always read each by reflex.
Personally though, when I see animu that seems interesting, I need to know first if Vale will/is the TL, regardless of fansub group name.
I also like card’s, lyger’s, ulrezaj, raze, fotc, a herkz exclusive (Teekyu, to be precise), Araara (E7 AO), FFF and WN’s works too. I may not be able to express how thankful I am to them for each release but surely, I will try to donate and to never participate should there be a poll for whose the best TL, editor, etc.
This is Crymore, what the fuck were you expecting? Me to massage their prostate?
No, but you’ve typically reserved the sarcastic exaggerated praise for especially vain fansubbers/Commie.
It’s your site; you can make fun of whoever however you want. I’ve just never quite grasped why you give UTW such special treatment (other than their being really popular).
I like playing around with expectations. When people expect/claim a release is good and it’s not, that’s a fun angle to play off. Same with when a release is expected to do poorly and it does pretty well. (I guess I don’t do it often enough, or you’d have picked up on it already.)
So when you have a group that’s hailed as fansubbing’s greatest thing ever, and they fuck up due to hubris (“Oh I’m Raze. I’m clearly too good to need an editor, so fuck it, I’ll just handle the entire script myself.”), how can you expect me not to talk about that? (In case you thought I was joking with the review introduction, the credits for the release are literally Script-Raze, Visuals-__ar.)
And even if the group members aren’t full of themselves, if a release is super hyped up and it sucks, I’m going to pick up on that too (more to make fun of leechers than the subbers themselves).
My sarcasm is definitely not limited to UTW.
You really shouldn’t be discussing your trade secrets in public. :P
I don’t see how people can’t pick this off from the obvious subtext that permeates his reviews. And its no secret that D_S has to pick a bone with UTW. Their somewhat subpar releases give D_S a chance to blow off some steam. *wink* *wink*
That’s where half the fun lies.
Is this show worth watching?
Sure, if you like mahou shoujo.
It’s anime, you silly goose.
Let’s be serious
