This season is gonna be amazing. Anime’s back in business, motherfuckers! And, no, don’t expect me to apologize for having the best taste. I’m rather proud of it.

Yuusha ni Narenakatta Ore wa Shibushibu Shuushoku wo Ketsui Shimashita
Animation Production:
Tits bouncing about, delicious skin, butt dancing…
Normally I’d be all about this. But I’ve matured over the years. Wisened. Sagified, even. And all my brainly wisdom is telling me this show looks exactly like Shiawase no Pan — the only show to make me fall asleep with a boner. I’m not about to let that happen again.
Fuck Shiawase no Pan and fuck Yuushawhatever.
Wait, what the fuck? This show is like The Devil is a Part-timer? But with massive amounts of tits?!
…Show of the season it is.
Yowamushi Pedal
Animation Production: TMS Entertainment (Bakumgan, Battle Girls, Kamisama Kiss)
Manga: http://www.mangahere.com/manga/yowamushi_pedal/c001/10.html
Here’s the premise: some otaku kid rides his bike everywhere to get otaku shit and HOLY SHIT IT TURNS OUT HE’S A CYCLING GENIUS MASTER. Guess he dopes to get to the sales on time or something.
Oh, fuck me. I wanna rip on this, but the manga is so fucking good. IT IS SO FUCKING GOOD.
You get all the general sports cliches, but it’s presented in such a lighthearted manner that doesn’t martyr itself that you can’t help but crack a smile. Seriously, give it a shot — I’m ear to ear right now. If you wanna be super sappy like me, put something like San Francisco by The Mowgli’s on repeat and set yourself in for some good times.
I bet the anime version will be almost as good as Oppai ‘n Cash Registers.
Kill la Kill
Animation Production: Trigger (Little Witch Academia… so why the fuck won’t you guys let me Kickstart this? I’d pay $1,000 for one of your director’s used fleshlights for a reward tier; I’m a true fan.)
Manga: N/A
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OHRmyeMk_rg
It’s literally just Gurren Lagann but all the main characters are Yoko. Just Yokos with smaller breasts and actual personalities. So not really like Yoko at all.
I’ll watch it for the Yoko.
Pupa
Animation Production: Studio DEEN (Hakkenden, Hakuouki, Higurashi)
Manga: http://www.mangahere.com/manga/pupa/c001/
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cUbXHxAgTaw
Holy shit. If you like fucked-up shit, I think this is gonna be your jam. I’d rather not say anymore. Experience the fun on your own.
Yozakura Quartet Hana no Uta
Animation Production: Tatsunoko Production (Pretty Rhythm, Sket Dance, Beyblade)
Manga: N/A. Well, sorta. Just pretend it’s N/A.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AEktnpsCPxc
Anything Suzuhito Yasuda touches is gold. I doubt he had much to do with this, but if he even so much as considered its existence once, this shit’s gonna be at least silver-tier. Count me as hyped.
Kyoukai no Kanata
Animation Production: KyotoAnimation (Free!, Chuu2, K-On)
Manga: N/A.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FIcptxBYXeY
It’s KyoAni which means pandering. And I think I’m part of the audience it’s pandering to. Fuck everyone, I’m gonna enjoy the shit out of this.
Seriously, I don’t even think that chick’s attractive and I’m masturbating to her right now. That’s the power of KyoAni.
Good-ish (7-8/10)
Nagi no Asu Kara
Animation Production: P. A. Works (Hanasaku Iroha and whatever those other shows were)
Manga: http://www.mangahere.com/manga/nagi_no_asu_kara/c001/2.html
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5HW-1PoIPCo
It’s your typical P. A. Works show (highish quality animation, romance focus, generally good), except the main female character is a complete fucking moeblob doormat.
I’ll give ’em a pass on this, but only because the setting — there are people who live under the sea and have to interact with those who live on the land — is rather interesting.
Kyousogiga
Animation Production: Toei Animation (Pretty Cure and a lot of shitty shounen)
Manga: http://www.mangahere.com/manga/kyousougiga/c001/
Yes, anime trailers use dubstep now.
While I despised the OVA that was released, the prospect of it taking form as a TV show makes my nutbladder quiver. Crazy-stupid action with a plot? It could be like FLCL if FLCL were good.
Oh fuck yeah, I’m sold like a Chinese baby. Japan, give. I’m just going to pretend Toei isn’t in charge of this.
Sekai de Ichiban Tsuyoku Naritai!
Animation Production: ARMS (La Blue Girl Returns, Crimson Climax, Natural Obsessions 2, Genshiken 2)
Manga: N/A
I like that the anime is gonna be about girls being all sweaty and grasping each other. But the character designs look like Tony Taka did them, which is a megas turn-off.
Ah whatever, I’ll give it a Good. I could do with another Rumbling Roses-type game if this show gets popular.
Aoki Hagane no Arpeggio
Animation Production: SANZIGEN (Black Rock Shooter, Wooser’s Hand-to-Mouth Life)
Manga: http://www.mangahere.com/manga/aoki_hagane_no_arpeggio/c001/
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1b5I0inKs_M
I don’t know if this show’s exactly my style, but I do think it’s the kind of series that should be experienced in animation form, so I stopped reading after a couple of chapters. The gist I got from the bit I read was “Sorta Leiji-esque in nature, but without the retardation, but perhaps not enough polish”.
If you like adventures, this should be on your to-watch list, but I’m not so sure there’s gonna be a guarantee when it comes to quality.
BlazBlue Alter Memory
Animation Production: Hoods Entertainment (Fantasista Doll, Mysterious Girlfriend X, Yosuga no Sora) & TeamKG (Nothing)
Manga: N/A
Nuff said.
Okay (5-6/10)
Tokyo Ravens
Animation Production: 8bit (Busou Shinki, Infinite Stratos, Aquarion Evol)
Manga: http://www.mangahere.com/manga/tokyo_ravens/c001/3.html
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-CHPeA9nDI
It’s a harem-shounen or so I gathered from what I read of the manga. You can expect all the things that go along with that title — like it being both a harem and a shounen.
It shouldn’t suck, but I wouldn’t expect it to be great.
Coppelion
Animation Production: GoHands (K, Mardock Scramble, Seitokai Yakuindomo)
Manga: http://www.batoto.net/read/_/56812/coppelion_v1_ch1_by_ala-atra-scans
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ifbc-FRXs4c
What year was this written, the 70s? The basic plot is a nuclear reactor went off 20 years ago, causing immense radiation, so humans genetically engineered three girls to enter the radiation. But now a twist! The girls act just like regular high schoolers, not special soldiers, dogs evolved into wolves from the radiation (literally, yes), and people live in the radiated zone without the government having an idea about it because… because. An even twistier twist? This isn’t a comedy.
Like most seinen, it wants to be smarter than it actually is. And as a result, all the deep human drama it tries to create falls rather flat and comes across as annoyingly cliched. Its only saving grace is that the trailer appears to show crazy chicks. And everyone loves crazy chicks.
But aside from that, there are better seinen to wank it to, my anihipster friends.
Log Horizon
Animation Production: Satelight (AKB0048, Aquarion Evol, Arata the Legend)
Manga: N/A.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vhXgBkeduII
Sword Art Online’s second season finally arrives. I don’t have much hope for it after its season 1 showing, but perhaps they can pull it off this time. On the back of my hopes tempered by reality, I’ll throw it in the Okay field.
Walkure Romanze
Animation Production: 8bit (Busou Shinki, Infinite Stratos, Aquarion Evol)
Manga: N/A
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VoFlF6i-0GY
Like any VN, the quality here’s gonna depend on which route’s chosen. Though I haven’t played this specific game, I have in fact seen the H-scenes and blondie has the most (and best), so pull for her route.
Meganebu!
Animation Production: Studio DEEN (Hakkenden, Hakuouki, Higurashi)
Manga:
Fuck yes, cosplay options. I’ll take it, Japan.
Japan, I can’t cos these guys. Arm sweatbands are a no-go. Please try again.
I take it this is just gonna be cute guys doing cute things? Well, better than normal slice-of-life, and Free! was good. All right, ladies. This better be worth my time. If it isn’t, you owe me one.
Kikou Shoujo wa Kizutsukanai (Unbreakable Machine Doll)
Animation Production: Lerche (Majikoi, Danganronpa)
Manga: http://www.mangahere.com/manga/kikou_shoujo_wa_kizutsukanai/v01/c001/2.html
Moe.
Tell me this shit ain’t fucking awesome.
Afro Samurai references, meaning they acknowledge the true glory of the USA.
It’s got all the makings of a great anime. …Except for the animation, which reminds me of Oreshura, that terrible piece of shit from, oh I dunno, 2010? We’ll call it potentially decent.
All right, enough trailer impressions. As you can see, the manga is rather ordinary and not in a good way. You’ll wanna watch this one for the spectacle and not much more.
Samurai Flamenco / Galilei Donna
Animation Production: Manglobe (Deadman Wonderland, The Unlimited, The World God Only Knows) / A-1 Pictures (AnoHana, Black Butler, Blue Exorcist)
Manga: N/A
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jpSiO57MIL8
I combined these two together because there ain’t enough info on either to make an informed decision. I’ll just :effort: outta this and call ’em potentially okay.
But seriously, Japan. It’s October. Give us some fucking details.
Ore no Nounai Sentakushi ga, Gakuen Love Come o Zenryoku de Jama Shiteiru
Animation Production: Diomedea (Campione!, Mondaiji-tachi, Squid Girl)
Manga: N/A
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=otpnM0f0eQ0
It’s a harem anime. Wonder if there will be any girls with personality in this one. Though I guess Japan wouldn’t let that happen.
If I Slit My Wrists While Watching This Show I’d Die of the Fail Rather than the Blood Loss (0-4/10)
Gaist Crusher
Animation Production: Pierrot (Bleach, Naruto, Letter Bee)
Manga: N/A
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y8Z6wtgPpgc
Maybe if Japan came up with something better than a shitty Beyblade ripoff I’d be impressed. As-is, this looks like another boring TV Y-7 shounen that I’ll only ever watch if it gets shipped over to America and I catch it in the morning before I head off to work.
In other words, I’m never going to watch this. Unless you vote that I have to in the poll. Then I will.
:(
Diamond no Ace
Animation Production: Madhouse + Studio I. G. (I think they did a Batman release together)
Manga: http://www.batoto.net/read/_/37156/diamond-no-ace_v1_ch1_by_tengen-toppa-tare-panda/2
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RaF5fM9lU-w
It’s a sports anime about boys that’s not aimed at girls.
Yep, it’s gonna suck.
Golden Time
Animation Production: J. C. Staff (Bakuman, Bondage Queen Kate, A Certain Scientific Railgun)
Manga: N/A
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LqcxfmkBnAI
We get a shitty high school romance story that’s -plot twist- set in college. Wow Japan, you sure are pushing the limits of creativity.
Tell ya what, I got a story to sell that’s even better, and I guarantee you’ve never heard of it before: how about an anime plot that doesn’t fucking suck rancid monkey dick? Huh, how about that you radiation-addled jackoffs? Wouldn’t that be a fucking Golden Time? Fuck you, Japan. Goddammit.
Outbreak Company
Animation Production: feel. (Nothing good)
Manga: N/A
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NRp9V0wJP70
I don’t even know. I don’t even care. Fuck this show.
Gingitsune
Animation Production: Diomedea (Campione!, Mondaiji-tachi, Squid Girl)
Manga: N/A
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dpv639zbnc4
It’s a slice-of-life show set in the country. It takes a special kinda person to enjoy SOL shows, and I’m not nearly boring enough to be excited by the prospect of falling asleep to this.
Strike the Blood
Animation Production: CONNECT (Nothing) and Silver Link (Fate/Kaleid Illya, Baka Test, Watamote)
Manga: http://www.mangahere.com/manga/strike_the_blood/c001/
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uAyVccJlkAY
Oh wow a B-tier shounen with a main character that’s indistinguishable from every other black-hailed bishoujo and is destined to play second fiddle to whichever male happens to be around at the time?
Japan, I appreciate the gesture, but you’re about 10 years too late with this shit.
Tell ya what, go ahead and see if you can convince Wal-Mart to take it (you don’t need a receipt for returns there). You might recoup some of the tens of dollars you spent on this shit.
Non Non Biyori
Animation Production: Silver Link (Fate/Kaleid Illya, Baka Test, Watamote)
Manga: http://www.mangahere.com/manga/non_non_biyori/v01/c001/2.html
The only good thing about Non Non Biyori seems to offer is that orgasmariffic music. Otherwise it’s more slice of life shit. Boring.
You know how you can tell if a show’s good? If you can replace all the good-looking people with ugly ones and still have it be enjoyable.
Code Geass with Fat Lelouch would be awesome. Non Non Biyori with chubby fat dudes talking about tests in school? Not at all. And don’t bullshit me on this, SOL fans. I know you fuckers only watch this shit because it’s slow-paced enough for you to “get”. Otherwise you’d be right there with me in the ecchi fandom.
Too close to home?
Gundam Build Fighters
Animation Production: (Accel World, Code Geass, Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere)
Manga: N/A.
It’s Gundam.
DameDesuYo is subbing Yushibu >_>
Like kokujin-kun, he secretly loves us.
thanks for the summary, asshole
I demand that everyone votes for Gaist Crusher.
Well, Dark_Sage’s tastes are improving :P
D_S’s taste = Golden Time >:(
I thought White album 2 and White album 1 had nothing to do with each other except the name o.O
Well, they’re presumably written by the same developer, and it’s possible that that same developer is involved in both.
But it’s not a sequel, he’s right on that one.
You serious? What the fuck, Japan?
Sure, Golden Time is another generic high school romance comedy but considering how it’s by the same writer as Toradora, I really wanna give that a shot.
Judging by this little preview your taste is only half-shitty.
Your taste is not so shit this time but
>gingitsune
>shit
Nope, SoL with supernatural elements is one of the best genres.
Agreed.
I don’t really like SoL, but SoL with a supernatural touch is very acceptable.
Penguindrum was animated by Brains Base. Silver Link only worked on two of the episodes and in case on one of them it was only on in-betweens.
BTW: You have no taste.
Oh fuck, you’re right. They did Animation Production Cooperation, not Animation Production. fix’d
Pupa is the only anime this season that hasn’t recieved a set air date. It might be pushed to Winter season or become a 5 minute short.
BlazBlue has one of the worst directors in the anime industry. Look him up.
The Arpeggio anime is directed by Seiji Kishi. I have little hope for it
Um, White Album 2 is a stand alone series.
Why are you complaining that the Noitamina shows don’t hold much information?
Galilei Donnna is being directed by that one dude who did Kite.
Samurai Flamenco is being directed by the director of Baccano, Koi Kaze, Natsume, Durarara, etc. and being written by the man who wrote Now and Then, Here and There and Excel Saga. How are you not excited? Unless you hate this works, then I guess that’s understandable.
Tl;dr. Why do you disparage against bloggers for having “shit” unvalid reasons and posts when you yourself do little to no research on your own post.
I’m just wondering why? I don’t mean this as a “YOU’RE A FUCKING HYPOCRITE YOU FUCKING BASTARD!” I’m just wondering.
1. My previews are only based on fact and my superior opinions, not baseless expectations. I’m not going to not include Pupa because I’m not sure if it’ll air this season. If that were the case, I wouldn’t preview Coppelion either. Also, read the manga and tell me how the hell you think it could be done well in just 12 5-minute episodes.
2. Director doesn’t matter much. http://www.crymore.net/2012/12/17/what-is-the-best-predictor-of-an-upcoming-animes-quality/
3. Director doesn’t matter much. http://www.crymore.net/2012/12/17/what-is-the-best-predictor-of-an-upcoming-animes-quality/
4. I assumed by the name it was a sequel. My bad.
5. Because my previews are only based on fact and my superior opinions, not baseless expectations. When I have nothing to go off, I can’t share my sugoi thoughts.
6. Director doesn’t matter much. http://www.crymore.net/2012/12/17/what-is-the-best-predictor-of-an-upcoming-animes-quality/
7. Director doesn’t matter much. http://www.crymore.net/2012/12/17/what-is-the-best-predictor-of-an-upcoming-animes-quality/ AND my previews are only based on fact and my superior opinions, not baseless expectations.
tl;dr: Don’t be mad just cuz I’m sagey fresh. There are reasons behind what I do.
Not mad, bro. I’m simply questioning both your hypocrisy and your oh so “superior” opinions.
How is your opinion based on facts when all you wrote for BlazBlue was posting a picture of a hot female character.
I’d rather base my expectations off of a director’s strength and weakness rather than just watching a trailer and saying “Oh, that’s obviously going to be a good show because it looks cool”. That’s not an intellectual foundation to base expectations on.
And as for Pupa, it is possible for it to become a 5 minute series. I’m not saying it will, I’m just speculating. Remember Lychee Light Club?
Anyway, you’re article about directors didn’t prove anything but whatever.
#yoloswag
Someone’s mad.
Fact #1: Dat ass
Fact #2: Directors suck
Fact #3: Pupa != Lychee
Fact #4: I dunno dude, it had a lot of data.
@Sage:Very clever. I don’t think I can argue those points
@Solar: If you would like to think so
BlazBlue’s anime is an adaptation of BlazBlue. Literally the only thing potentially good about it is possible Makoto x Kokonoe.
And that’s more than enough.
Also, it’s more likely that pupa is standard length than five minutes (though, thanks to it premiering on niconico, there’s no actual air date information to go by).
Also you’re taking this too seriously.
Maybe I am taking this too seriously
#oswagiliciousmoney
And so begins the onslaught of the bloggers?
Thanks for the info on Arpeggio and Samurai Flamenco, though. I now have two more people from the anime industry to revere.
Yeah, the director of Samurai Flamenco is pretty damn cool (like I just stated)
Seiji Kishi, on the other hand is only good with comedy
“Samurai Flamenco is being directed by the director of Baccano, Koi Kaze, Natsume, Durarara, etc. and being written by the man who wrote Now and Then, Here and There and Excel Saga. How are you not excited? Unless you hate this works, then I guess that’s understandable.”
Thanks for the warning, one less show to put on my list.
Cool, glad I could be of more service to you than Sage
4 against 1, D_S still wins.
Flawless victory.
:'(
Maybe next time
@El Huesdo: I don’t know how long you’ve been on this blog, but I have a man crush on Sage. We’re pretty good friends and anything I say here is just a playful jab.
Records show you’ve been here since 8 AM of October 1st, 2013. Looks like he’s got ya beat, Huesudo.
Thanks man ;)
Stop using facts man, it makes you look tryhard.
…
It’s a sad world where people can’t tell when someone’s trolling
I’m nothing if not eternally serious.
There are records for these kinds of things? o.o
>Kyousogiga
>Good-ish
I think you mean AOTY. The only thing that might give it a run for its money is Kill la Kill.
Why the hate for sport works?
>Gundam BF
>bad
>not hyping Ippo
>doesn’t like generic sport manga
>hypes SoL stuff as if it’s awesome
C/a/sual of c/a/suals. I bet you even like SnK. Disgusting.
I’m the most hardcore casual you’ll find. Believe it.
Seriously wondering thou, what do you think of Hajime no Ippo?
Haven’t watched it, nor do I intend to. I don’t have the kind of time for the kind of commitment Hajime requires.
Whelp, I get that. I barely have time to read the manga nowadays.
Could I request you to review Overtime subs (they do mostly tokusatsu shows, but one of their translators has been working on the Ippo manga for quite some time) release when it comes out? Or would that be too difficult/pointless without prior knowledge of the series? I’m just curious how you’d rate them.
Anyway, cheers. Keep rocking that c/a/sual taste bro.
Ooh, Overtime. I’m interested just so I can help them get up to standard. I’ll consider it, but only as a low priority (best I can offer).
The first thing I scrolled down to was the Non Non Biyori section because I predicted that you would pretty much say exactly what you said.
You’re right though; I’m a SoL fan and I’ll tell you that if the cute girls in this or KinMoza or Yuyushiki or K-On or any kind of “fuck all happens” kind of slice of life were replaced with fat blobs of leftover flesh, I wouldn’t enjoy it as much (if at all).
The whole point of them is to be easy to watch and relax to. And aesthetics is a part of that. I’m sure you’ve noticed that music in those kinds of shows is always upbeat and the color palette is pretty damn bright, so it’s the same with the characters: make them aesthetically pleasing. A busty chick isn’t exactly easy to turn your brain off to, a normal person (like in NHK) is kind of 50/50, but cute is always a surefire on/off switch (and it’s easier for me as a guy, and I’d assume that much of the demographic of these kinds of shows is male as well, to see a girl as cute as opposed to a guy.
Though I must admit I’m not sure what you’re getting at with the whole “slow enough to get” bit. Care to explain?
Well, I like K-On myself. But K-On was exciting – most slice of life is content to just exist and not much else.
Not the biggest fan of explaining my jokes, but sure (on the off-chance your last line wasn’t playing along with me).
>I know you fuckers only watch this shit because it’s slow-paced enough for you to “get”.
This was playing off the idea that most slice-of-life are slow-paced and that “slow” is used to describe people who take longer to figure things out than normal (in this case, I was using it more offensively, along the lines of “stupid”). Basically, by combining the two concepts I was saying that because slice-of-life shows are slow-paced, they’ll attract an audience (stupid people) that finds them easier to handle than other genres (like ecchi, which is clearly for smart people).
It’s true that lots of slice of life shows don’t shoot for much more than just kind of being there, but that’s exactly what makes them so enjoyable. It’s one of those things that, unless you’re a fan of it yourself, it’s pretty much impossible to understand. Like how I don’t see the appeal of giant robots fighting each other or watching little kids have sex or whatever. Though I’m sure that those people who do could probably provide me a long list of reasons as to why they do.
And don’t worry, I got you the first time. ;)
Thanks for responding though. At least you don’t seem to be like some fans who equate liking moe with pedophilia. Now that’s one line of logic I just can’t seem to follow.
>And don’t worry, I got you the first time. ;)
OH FUCK YOU
Yowamushi Pedal is a great manga, I can’t disagree with D_S on this one. Awesome that it’s getting an anime.
i can agree with 3 of your 6 shows in the “excellent” category
now the optimist would say: darksage’s taste is actually acceptable
the pessimist would say: darksage’s taste is 50% shit, so he must be shit
WHERE ARE YOU, SHAFT?
We have a movie on Oct 26th. Will not suffice, but, better than nothing.
>linking mangahere
ISHYGDDT
You got a better site? Batoto’s run by a bunch of cunts and it doesn’t even have half of MangaHere’s selection.
Fun fact about blondie from Walkuruzereseseser Romanze: if she fell over, she’d break her sternum!
Boob armour is the most baffling form of fanservice; it’s sexualising without being in the least bit sexy.
Oh, I forgot that Batoto doesn’t have everything lol. Never mind, then. Sometimes manga’s scanlated by groups that only upload to mangafox and shit, and batoto doesn’t allow those releases because they’re shit. Most sites other than Batoto compress the images for a lower filesize which degrades the quality of the images. I dunno how many people actually notice or mind it, though. I never liked other external readers because the ads on their site give them money for the work other people did, but that’s just me.
Er, shit. That was meant to be a comment to what you said to my comment >)>
Yeah, something’s screwing up on the site when it comes to replies (enough to be annoying, not enough to be severely so). One of the secret admins has some free time coming up, so we’ll see what he can do.
I don’t like those sites either, but there’s no such thing as a good manga reading site, so we just gotta deal.
> Seriously, I don’t even think that chick’s attractive and I’m masturbating to her right now. That’s the power of KyoAni.
You also masturbated to the “Free!” guys because it was done by KyAni, right?
There, I knew it.
I’m not gay, but for KyoAni…
I’ll write the “It’s Gundam” comment off as “my tastes and D_S’s aren’t always the same” and leave it at that.
Though, don’t get me wrong. I do agree Build Fighters is instantly shit, but not because “it’s Gundam”, but because of the opposite: it isn’t Gundam. It’s being sold off as Gundam when it’s actually more “take cues from Medabots and Angelic Layer to make a shitty Saturday morning children’s anime to sell more Gundam customizable figures”.
It should be called “Gunpla Build Fighters”, like the OVA that spawned it, but I guess the Gundam name is its only selling point after all.
All the while Sunrise could just cut to the chase and release The Origin… but then again, it’s not like they know what to do with Gundam anymore; releasing Unicorn episodes almost yearly, making AGE, giving AGE an OVA… and now this.
Otherwise I agree with you 84% on your Excellent list. I think Yuusha is gonna suck big time, but the rest of them are definitely on my watch list.
Dark_Sage’s Gundam experience:
1. A few random episodes of Gundam Wing when D_S was a kid
2. A few random episodes of G Gundam when D_S was a kid
3. A few episodes of Gundam Age (I think I subbed the first couple with [sage] actually)
I might like 00, but watching things sounds like effort.
00 is pretty Wing-like, but with different kinds of ham involved. I thought it was very nice except for the movie, which is enjoyable sure, but it’s completely ridiculous and stupid. (It would’ve helped if they established most of its plot points ahead of time in the TV show.)
Also yes. AGE is a stain on the franchise’s record. At least G Gundam has the advantage of being dated, taking refuge in gigantic amounts of ham (This hand of mine, etc), and not being ridiculously KIDDY (way to screw up, Level-5. Next time think of Layton, not of Inazuma Eleven, for good anime ideas).
Watch Unicorn, D_S. When the last OVA releases. That’s what Gundam should be like.
Aight, I suspect there will be enough hubbub over this that I won’t need to be monitoring any news sites?
Waiting works just fine for me anyway. (I’m still waiting for 4.44 before watching the Rebuild movies.)
I will personally remind you when it comes out, as I’ll be throwing a party. Also, same here for Eva: Rebuild.
BF has the potential to be amazing. All dat mecha porn, amongst other things.
Saying its going to be instantly shit because it “take cues from Medabots and Angelic Layer to make a shitty Saturday morning children’s anime to sell more Gundam customizable figures” is extremely delusional, being that Gundam has always been (and will always be), much like Kamen Rider and Sentai, a glorified toy commercial. Most of their profit comes from toy sales, and that’s a fact.
Creating a show that not only panders to both of their main target audiences (children and oldschool fans that will take pleasure in seeing old MS appearing) but will also make available an incredible amount of new model kits (together with setting a new standard for all kits making kitbashing, which is what the show is all about, extremely easier) is quite frankly as masterstroke that will most likely be hugely successful and profitable.
If you disregard it simply because of that, then I’m sorry to say you are not qualified to say what’s “Gundam” and what’s not. If you’re going to talk shit about something at least try to inform yourself beforehand.
Also, dissing G? What are your favorites? Destiny and Zeta? Please.
Nah I’m going to wager that whatever you just said was bull shit.
Sure bro, whatever you say.

W-what? I hadn’t seen that PV for Kill la Kill…Is she seriously going to transform into a stripper every time she has to fight (aka every episode)? Godfucking dammit, WHY! WHY JAPAN!!!!! YOU RUIN EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!
Are you new to anime or something?
Japan TV is founded on sexualization. Even preschooler shows are heavily sexualized.
No, I am not new to anime. Please don’t take internet comments too seriously. Thank you.
Don’t worry Justinnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn, El Huesdo has a bit of an issue with taking everything too seriously. (and having shitty taste in anime for not liking Baccano)
I’m no anime expert, but Oh boy it hurts my pride to be called a newbie by a newbie :(
(it’s funny that you mention Baccano…Baccano is the only Japanese LN I’ve bought in my life)
Everyone so serious.
This is a medium with CGI bicycle racing, girls wearing school uniforms even in a post-apocalyptic world, and the hottest women all have tails all in the same season.
Face it, no matter how you look at it, we’re all winners here.
Even if this season does happen to contain the rapiest TV anime I’ve see in a while.
I love that comment! :P
Kyoukai no Kanata had an awesome song in PV2 so that was an instant win. Curious how KyoAni will deal with something serious and possibly dark for once.
You’re doing God’s work, sir. Bless you for making the world a better place.
They need to get more scans of pupa out so I can decide if it’s actually good or not. Looks to be a season where I try a whole lot of new things, plus with new seasons of Aikatsu, Ippo, and Phi Brain I have lots of things to return to.
Honestly, I think you may be under rating Strike the Blood.
Anyway, I’m really excited to watch blaze blue and unbreakable machine dolls, should be good.
Glad I stumbled across this blog, I had the biggest laugh at “And don’t bullshit me on this, SOL fans. I know you fuckers only watch this shit because it’s slow-paced enough for you to “get”. Otherwise you’d be right there with me in the ecchi fandom.”.
Anyway, hopefully this anime round will be better than last round (don’t get me wrong, there were some standouts like blood lad and Highschool DXD is my favourite anime of the hundreds I’ve watched but the rest were pretty shit. Did anybody actually end up getting through devils and realists and hyperdimension neptunia?)
More ecchi, more action, more fantasy and more, god forbid, moe! Just kidding about that last part, let’s have some high quality animation!
