Sorry about the lack of posts this past week. Been rather consumed with playing vidya (Transistor and Last Remnant).

Visual Review
Karaoke.
Opening. Fansubbing has gone too far. …and I like it.
Rating: Great.
Ending. Good, but if they turned down the effect a bit, it’d be better.
Rating: Good.
Typesetting.
They did it all. Coulda taken 40 more screens, but I think what I capped here should suffice to give you the right impression.
Other.
If you’re a fan of “line break everything” groups like Underwater, the lines in this release may be a bit wide for your taste.
Though I suppose it’s better than the alternative:
RIP Underwater. ;_;
Script Review
Karaoke.
If it was unchangable, that’d mean you couldn’t chang it. And I don’t even know what that means.
unchangable -> unchangeable
Main Script.
She’ll “give it a shot”? Yeah, no. She’s a bit more competent than Kiri-chan.
“I’ll register right over here, so let me know if you need any help.”
Let’s not.
let’s fight to the fullest -> let’s not hold anything back
While the “That’s… amazing, in a sense.” reeks of generic translation, and the first line needs a rephrase so it doesn’t seem like the site is intentionally awful (“The official homepage only has minimal amounts of information.”), the real problem here is in the middle. I read those lines and my eyes glaze over.
“You can only perform character management, e-currency exchange”
“and most other account-related functions in the game itself.”
Don’t have elevators where you come from, Hiryuu?
“It’s one floor down.”
“conceited” really isn’t the term I’d use here. I would suggest you use a fork of “stupid” for this line, but I’m a bit concerned you’d end up sticking one up your nose instead.
Actually, I take that back. Maybe a lobotomy is in order.
Lightsaber? I ain’t dropping your score for it, but really?
A joint English and culinary arts class?
“so I want to teach you one final thing.”
“What the bullet of defeat tastes like.”
I would’ve been really confused by this line if I hadn’t already watched the Crunchyroll version. She’s supposed to be saying she’d quit playing the game completely if she lost in the prelims. Needs to be clearer since “I’ll quit” could refer to a lot of things.
I’ll quit. -> I’ll quit GGO entirely.
I would hope so.
She just said she was gonna kick his ass in the prelims. Drop the “someday”.
Wherever the “to begin with” is coming from, you need to send it back there.
Results
Watchability: Watchable.
Visual grade: A+
Script grade: C (it’s a 200-line script, so mistakes matter more here)
Overall grade: B-
I’d say it’s a toss-up between FFF and Hiryuu for this show. I’d probably recommend FFF over Hiryuu, just for the speed benefits, but personally I’m just gonna go with Crunchyroll, since I don’t want anything delaying me from Sinon’s delicious backside.

Can’t wait for BDs*
The day BDs have nips I want to fap to will be the day ecchi anime get good. It’ll never happen.
Get a load of this guy.
My amazing taste might overload you so don’t load me too much
Commie review soon?
Commie got DQed.
Dat OP though
It’s godly.
Dat ED. Reminds me of STrick for some reason. lol
lol Leona good eye.
I modified your template for it. I thought it was literally the perfect one for the job.
OP too obtrusive; automatic skip from me.
ED is nice.
Nothing here worth waiting for though.
Sticking to FFF for SAO2.
>Transistor
Pretty good taste you have there, D_S. Lack of posts is forgiven-
>Last Remnant
…
It’s an awful game, I agree. But if you use a trainer to essentially disable the BR mechanic, it’s pretty enjoyable.
since Xythar confronted me on being more direct about my comments, I suppose I’ll be frank about it.
>let’s fight to the fullest -> let’s not hold anything back
Let’s not hold anything back isn’t common English either, however grammatically correct it may be. Try “no holding back.” Add “for either of us” if you’re picky on details. when reviewing, relevant comments and fixes are much appreciated (please do note that was sarcastic, to be frank).
PJSalt www PJSalt
>when reviewing, relevant comments and fixes are much appreciated (please do note that was sarcastic, to be frank).
I don’t think this line says what you think it says. Go back to whining to Xythar about me until you learn how to literacy.
If what you interpreted from my line isn’t what I meant, then apparently this site has failed (for a long while) to fulfill its original purpose of reviewing various fansubs. If that is the case, then I suppose it wouldn’t be considered a mistake to point out an error in English and make the same error yourself in attempting to suggest a fix. As far as I’m concerned, such mistakes are “irrelevant to the topic at hand”, just as personal attacks to fansub groups and your corny jokes are.
You’re not a native English speaker, are you? Honest feedback: your writing is painful to read.
For your suggestion, I wouldn’t have much a problem with it… if this were a dub and the VA spoke past the line quickly. Otherwise, it’s awful.
As far as personal attacks and corny jokes… welcome to Crymore?
Sorry. I just wanted to find a way to point out a mistake without calling you incompetent for it. It’s okay if you don’t know what subtlety is, but if you’d rather be called incompetent for every human error that you make, by all means, feel free to say so. I would just rather respect the effort that is placed before bashing the lack of results that come from it. Not sure if you feel me, that’s from the heart.
As far as the suggestion goes, if that is the limitation of your English, then I suppose that can’t be helped. The line “let’s not hold anything back,” I personally have not heard that line in any particular movie, book, TV show, or any other media that I’ve come across that is originally in English, but, to quote you, “I wouldn’t have much a problem with it… if this were a dub and the VA spoke past the line quickly. Otherwise, it’s awful.” We stand by our opinions, so be it.
I wouldn’t say it’s a mistake, but I do appreciate the effort. I shouldn’t be free of criticism just because I’m the sexiest thing to hit the fansub scene since FlashGordon.
Not holding back is something you hear in English conversations regarding competitions. It’s not a figurative saying, so, if you know the language, you should understand what it means. Most commonly, it’s “don’t hold back” (challenger) or “I won’t hold back” (challenged).
You seem to be smug but your wording is somewhat awkward. If English is your second language, it’s pretty good… Except for the fact that you’re using that uncomfortable English to bash someone much better at the language than you.
>If what you interpreted from my line isn’t what I meant
I feel sorry for your editor if that is how you normally speak :(
The subs are broken in the OP webm btw
Here’s the script I’m using. Improvements are welcome.
-i “anime.mkv” -ss 00:00.000 -to 00:00.000 -c:a libvorbis -c:v libvpx -crf 12 -b:v 1000k -vf “scale=640:-1,subtitles=’anime.mkv'” -sn output.webm
Try setting the cut 3seconds before the actual OP start.
Also, try removing the “-b:v 1000k” and setting the -crf to 18.
I think I’m gonna keep the bitrate in there next time:
The problem might be with this error message that got returned: “fontconfig: cannot find font ‘Montara Gothic’, falling back to ‘Montara-Gothic'”. Though my google searches haven’t much helped in resolving it. (And yes, the font is installed.)
Maybe it is not correctly attached to the mkv.
Looks to be some fontconfig bullshit. It’s a hassle to deal with so for now I’m just gonna leave things as they are. ffmpeg doesn’t wanna play nice even with my .conf file.
>Lightsaber? I ain’t dropping your score it, but really?
I’m dropping your score this one.
;_;
That OP. Jesus Christ. Brilliant. And I can only assume it’s all softsubbed. Great work there.
Yup, it’s softsubbed.
Holy fuckballs, that OP kara is orgasmic. Makes me almost want to watch the show.
Any update or something for next review and for which show it might be.
Yes, I poured a third of a Mio Energy into my water, so tonight should result in… something. Should be a Zankyou review.
Key word here is should
Something drastically distracting would have to occur to prevent this review from getting out tonight. Good thing porn doesn’t exist.
What is Mio Energy and where can it be purchased?
It’s basically caffeine pills in liquid form. And they’re pretty damn strong, so everyone likes to put them in liquid to dilute them. One of my party tricks is pouring a quarter of a bottle into my mouth all at once. Haven’t died yet, but I’m anticipating a surprise ending one of these days.
You can get ’em anywhere in America.
How much is one bottle?
Seems to be going for around $3.50. Sometimes you can get ’em on a 2 for $5 sale.
Seems cheap enough.
I’m tempted to order a few dozen and sell them to my caffeine-addict friends.
I can attest to his dedication to this method.
Hah, I’m playing Last Remnant right now too. Started and dropped it when it first came out, but now I’m really enjoying it!
