Karaoke.

Opening. No ending in this episode.

Beautiful, isn’t it?

Typesetting.

Not even gonna attempt to translate this? I’ll give you a hint: It’s the title of the fucking show.

Truly a great group.

Colored attack names. 2002 strikes back!

SHIT SUBS

Fucking morons.

I hate these kids so, so much.

Other.

Great text placement.

A number of lines in this release are extended like this. It probably has something to do with their staff being incompetent.

BECAUSE CAPITAL LETTERS MAKE EVERYTHING BETTER

Oh great. Advertisements. Thanks, guys.

Script Quality

Karaoke.

It was fine, but I’m going to assume that their pledge to “never be wounded” is actually something like a pledge to “never lose”.

Main Script.

No need for the comma at the end of the first line.

“Till later.” isn’t really the kind of a response a native speaker would have here. It’s more like “Till then.”

This group does not know how to fucking use commas. Drop the comma here.

constellation. I have no fucking clue what a “costellation” is.

The plural of “small fry” is “small fry”. So this is right. Just sayin’.

“I am a member of Lord Mars’ Martian Spy Corps:”

“the great Mantis Ortygia.”

What a shitty fucking line.

…I’d like to say you forgot how to English here, but I’m going to assume you never knew how.

“…is what I’d like to say, but”

“It is name”? Try again.

“Its name,”

Timing Review

Incoming. When “Timing Critique” is added as a category, you’ll know this part is done.

Results.

Watchability: Watchable.

Timing Grade:

Visual grade: F

Script grade: C+

Overall grade (timing results not factored in): C-

Barring the stupidity, the script is readable. I mean, it’s a fucking shounen. Kinda hard to fuck this up. But the visuals are fucking terrible. I’m not sure if Tsuki’s release is this bad or not, but I guess I’ll find out soon…

  1. Fun fact: “small fry” literally refers to tiny fish that have hatched relatively recently. Fish is also both singular and plural.

  2. Sponsors and credits? Wow, welcome to seven years ago. Though, looking at their site, they’re a Saint Seiya-only group who picked up where a 2003 group left off – meaning they probably saw that “This is a free fansub” line and thought it was still relevant. Ha, who knew groups like this still existed? :D

      • To be honest, I don’t remember that *ever* being a standard in fansubbing. Maybe in the old VHS days? Who knows? I’m guessing all these guys must be mid-30s, 40s and not watched a fansub pre-2004 – which isn’t necessarily a bad thing in itself, but when you’re subbing a current season show… get with the times, guys!

      • Some (early morning) shows have the clock in. It’s a .ts issue and not the subgroups fault. You see this a lot with kids shows like Yugioh, Digimon, and so on.

    Hint: it’s in the filename.

  4. Thanks for all the criticism, even though most of it seems just to be an angry rant, instead of providing constructive feedback. What’s relevant in your “review” will be taken into consideration to improve upon the future releases. I think you would get a lot more readers if you dropped the “I’m so angry at funsubbing groups” shtick and pointed out mistakes while elaborating on matters in detail. Yet again, thanks for the input.

    • The website name really should have given away what to expect. If not that, then every post on the main page.

As for the ‘shtick’ – that’s probably half the reason people enjoy the website. The other half being the feedback you apparently realized up.

    • You could probably do a better job by using CR’s translation and not even editing it. Actually, the CR release is probably better in every way.
