DxS didn’t edit this ep, so just keep in mind the other eps are probably better. Too bad I found that out after I was already mostly done with this review. ~_~

Visual Review

Karaoke.

Opening. It fits the karaoke, but it doesn’t fill me with warm fuzzlies. Good ’nuff.

Rating: Okay+.

Ending. Again, it does what it needs to.

Rating: Okay+.

Typesetting.

Coulda easily done that last one, Commie.

Script Review

Karaoke.

Call me crazy, but “warm lead” doesn’t seem like it would be pleasant to be hit by.

You sure about this one, Commie?

Main Script.

I’ve never heard of “city groups” before; only Citigroup. Would this term be the equivalent of “city-states” or “trade cities” or something like that?

Ain’t saying it’s wrong. Only that I’d like to know what it means if anyone actually does. GotWoot just has “cities”.

everyday -> every day

“erryday” is also acceptable.

“But I was just all talk.” or “But it was all just talk.” would fit better.

“Just a moment, Sin.”

Come on, now. This is simple shit.

did. You’re gonna notice quite a few lines that aren’t properly accented in the release. Generally editors do this, so it makes sense to not see them in here.

Not that it’s any less unforgivable!

Hmm, I remember this line having an issue, but I don’t quite remember what it was. Tis a mystery! Let’s try and logic our way out of this.

>to

“to” is a homophone for “two”. And two to’s is… Toto.

Toto had a hit song in 1983 called “Africa”.

As everyone knows, Africa is the largest country in the world and its president is Desmond Tutu.

So, let’s divide “Tutu” by two. Doing this, you get “Tu”, the Spanish form of address for the personal “you”.

“You” is pronounced “yoo”. And the Greek symbol for “y” is

Double it back on itself and you get

And if you combine that with “oo”, you get

oo

Looking carefully, you can see that this is classic game of “double hangman” where the participants guessed “o” two times in a row incorrectly. I don’t know why they did that, and that’s why this line is still a mystery to me.

are are

Been a while since I’ve had one of these issues to point out. It hardly has any bearing on the grade, so cut your bitching right there, but this should be “Low-level” because that combination of words is acting as an adjective for “magic items”.

“That Sinbad?” conveys no meaning on its own. “That” needs to have an accent put on it to reflect natural speech. And accents in italicized lines are represented through non-italics.

Observe:

Is this for real? That Sinbad?

The goal is to make it stick out.

Stilted for a man admiring another’s swordsmanship. The problem here is “The style and the fire” which sounds like you might read it out of a textbook, not something that anyone would say.

“His style combined with that fire makes for a deadly combination.”

You could easy mode a fix by changing “gotten” to “received”.

Large vocabulary there, Commie.

“The former king was an old friend of mine.”

Except he didn’t, and that’s the entire point of this scene.

Watchability: Watchable.

Visual grade: B

Script grade: C+

Overall grade: B-

For an episode that wasn’t edited, it wasn’t too bad. I’m still gonna recommend gg for the show, but at least this is better than GotWoot’s release.
