Goddamn that’s a long fucking title. Also, this show is chock-full of witty comebacks and snappy dialogue, so… this TL Party is only going to take into account the first 5 minutes. Don’t worry, you’ll get all you need from this.
Translation Party House Rules:
Spoiler for
1. Translation Parties are intended to help you make the best subtitle choice for a given anime. Choose which line(s) you liked best by selecting them with the checkbox.
2. If you didn’t like any of the lines, choose the “N/A” option. The results for “N/A” won’t be automatically tabulated, so you’ll have to do the math in your head. Have my gomens and nasais.
3. A “>” indicates that another character has begun speaking. If there are three characters in a line comparison, I will indicate the third with a “>>” and so on for more characters.
4. Group order is randomized for each screenshot, every time you refresh the page. However, the “N/A” option will always appear at the bottom of the screen.
5. Your results will be summed up when you click the “Get your results” button. Feel free to vote in the poll at the end/post in the comments to let others know how you did and to compare your results with them.
6. Party hard.

WhyNot :: Youth is a lie.
It is evil.
Those who sing praise for the springtime of youth are constantly deceiving themselves and those around them.
They’re completely engrossed, as if hypnotized, in the atmosphere.
If it’s for the sake of their “youth,”
they’ll distort common sense and even reject social norms.
For them, things like lies, secrets, sins, and failures
are just the spices of life.
Commie :: {\i1}Those that glorify youth are only fooling themselves and those around them,
{\i1}and believe that their surroundings always affirm their actions.
{\i1}By using the word “youth”, they twist and distort common sense and anything logical.
{\i1}For them, lies, secrets, sins, and failures do nothing but add spice to their youth.
NWTC :: Youth is a hoax.
It’s evil.
People who make a big deal of their “youth”, are just inviting trouble.
They try to keep up with everything going on around them.
For them, if it has to do with their “youth”, they jump at it without a second thought.
From normal daily life, to rebelling against the views of society.
If you fall in with them, lies, secrets, failure, and even crime await you.
But for them, it’s just the spice of life.
FFF :: {\i1}Youth is a lie. It is evil.
{\i1}Those who claim to enjoy it are deluding themselves and others.
{\i1}They fit the events and environment around them to the youth mold as self-confirmation.
{\i1}They will fit any commonly held interpretations of life events to this mold in the name of youth.
{\i1}To them, lies, secrets, sins, and failures are but seeds of spice in their youth.
RIP fansubbing :: N/A. They all suck.

WhyNot :: If things like failure are the signs of youth,
then the people who fail to make any friends
are in full bloom during this “springtime of youth”?
Well, I’m sure that’s something they would refuse to acknowledge.
It’s all a double standard set by them.
Commie :: {\i1}If failure is the hallmark of being young like they say,
{\i1}then someone who’s failed to make friends must be at the peak of his youth, right?
{\i1}However, I’m sure they would disagree.
{\i1}All of this is just their double standards at play and nothing else.
NWTC :: And if failure is also the mark of “youth”, then…
Isn’t it ironic, that a person who has failed to make any friends, is also technically leading his “youth”?
Though I wonder if they’d agree.
Afterall, everything runs on {\i1}their{\i0} schedule.
FFF :: {\i1}Supposing such failures were an indication of youth,
{\i1}then one who has failed to make friends must also be at the height of his youth.
{\i1}But they would disagree on this point.
{\i1}Everything must fit into their preconstructed mold.
RIP fansubbing :: N/A. They all suck.

NWTC :: I, um, I’m just trying to portray high school life accurately.
Didn’t my essay give you the same feelings as high school?
>You little brat, don’t try to be smart with me.
Don’t call me little…
Well, then again, coming from someone your age—

NWTC :: I..

National General Course, Class J.
Ninety percent of the class is female.
The facilities are good, and it’s known throughout the school.
And within that class, there’s a girl with great talents—Yukinoshita Yukino.
She’s famous and known throughout the school.
FFF :: {\i1}I know who this girl is.
{\i1}International Education Class 2-J.
{\i1}This class, 90% of which are girls,

I order you to participate in this club.
I won’t accept any objections, rebuttals, protest, questions, or retorts from you.
Commie :: You will join this club as penance for the joke of an essay you turned in to me.
I don’t care about any questions, concerns, objections, or dissenting opinions you may have.
NWTC :: As punishment for your half-assed report, you’ll be joining this club.
I won’t take no for an answer.
FFF :: Your punishment for writing that contemptful crap is joining this club.

WhyNot :: Well, as you can probably see,
his personality is as rotten as his eyes.
Because of that, he’s someone who is always alone. He’s quite pitiful.
In order to reform that rebellious predisposition to solitude, I’d like him to join this club.
This is a request from me.
Commie :: Anyway, as I’m sure you can see,
his soul’s just as rotten as his eyes.
That’s why he stands before you as a pitiful loner.
While he’s in your club, I’d like for you to mend his twisted misanthrope mentality.
This is a personal request from me.
NWTC :: Well, that’s the idea.
He has a rotten heart to go with those rotten eyes.
Those two things make him pathetic and lonely.
To help him get over that, I’d like him to join this club.
That’s my request.
FFF :: Anyway, you can probably tell at a glance that his personality’s as rotten as his eyes.
As a result, he’s a lonely and pitiful creature.
Fix his rebellious and loner-prone personality in this club.
That’s my request.

It feels as if my body is in danger.
>No guy would bother looking at those pitiful breasts anyway.
Commie :: Looking at that guy’s vulgar and scheming eyes makes me fear for my life.
>{\i1}Like I’d waste my time looking at those paltry plains you call breasts.
NWTC :: I feel that I would be putting myself in danger being near someone with rotten eyes lead by a rotten heart.
>I ain’t looking at you!
>Like I would, with that flat chest.
FFF :: I see danger to my person in those vulgar eyes looking at me full of ulterior motives.

WhyNot :: Don’t worry about that.
This guy’s ability to evaluate risk vs. return and his sense of self-preservation are quite something.
He wouldn’t do anything that would get him charged with a crime.
You can have faith in his spineless nature.
>Actually, I’d rather you say I just use common sense to make decisions.
Commie :: Relax.
This guy’s got quite the calculating mind and self-preserving instincts.
He definitely won’t do anything that could get him in trouble with the law.
Don’t worry. He’s a minion at best.
>Can’t you just say I can make sensible decisions?
NWTC :: Don’t worry, he may not look it, but he’s trustworthy.
He wouldn’t do anything that’d get him arrested.
Put your faith in the fact he’s a spineless hooligan.
>I’d like to say that I’m not that spineless.
FFF :: Don’t worry.
This guy’s risk-return calculations and self-preservation mechanisms
are actually pretty good.
He wouldn’t do anything punishable by law.
You can trust in his petty-criminal nature.

{\i1}This class, 90% of which are girls,

Commie :: You will join this club as penance for the joke of an essay you turned in to me.

Commie.
But is it just me or do most subs seem shittier so far this season?
Well, if you’ve mostly been looking at this site, I can see why you’d think that. The biggest takeaway from TL Parties is that no one group does the best in every situation, meaning they all have issues in multiple areas.
As for shittier than other seasons, well I won’t really have an idea of general sub quality until I spend my two hours analyzing each script. After I get through maybe 10 reviews I can say whether or not that’s accurate, but as of right now I don’t have enough information to say.

Looks like your best bet is Commie.
I haven’t watched the show yet, intentionally. Still, I’m not surprised, but I am disappointed. Some of those sentences, Commie, were grammatical messes. However, the flavor added by editing made up for it apparently. WhyNot had some inaccuracies, but they pledged improvement in that regard, so I’ll follow both groups for a couple episodes and see who pulls off the best characterizations.

It’s a tie between WhyNot and Commie.
I watched FFF’s, for the confirmation bias data.
Looking over the tagged lines, when Commie or FFF lost I tended to hate their lines. When WhyNot lost, it was more of a meh~not-as-good. I guess I’ll swap to WhyNot?

I don’t know about the other releases, but I watched WhyNot’s and felt it had some issues. Will probably wait on some opinions or just compare the releases of next episode.

And it’s a beautiful Draw. And I’m not entirely surprised since I’d regularly trust all 3 of those groups. I’ll probably stick with FFF or WhyNot’s though.
At any rate, NWTC was clearly the worst, even if it was still watchable. That was the one I watched so I already knew they weren’t too good anyway.

Commie’s had by far the most flavor in their editing, though a few lines were messy. FFF was almost always a close contender and did a much better job than my results indicate. I’d be comfortable watching their release if Commie wasn’t doing it. NWTC’s inexperience is pretty obvious.
I have to say I wasn’t expecting that result.
One change that might be interesting for these TL parties(and I’m sure it has probably been suggested before) would be to allow ranking each of the compared lines in order of preference. It could then be that a group that is consistently selected as second best, might come out on top if opinions were divided as to who is number one.
I just mentioned a similar thing about this in my results for the Date-A-Live TL Party, where my second place (Anime-Koi) had 6 vs. my 3rd place’s 5 (FFF), but for almost every line I chose Doki for, my second choice would have been FFF, not Anime-Koi. So in reality, despite the numbers, FFF is clearly the better 2nd place contender over Anime-Koi.
TL Parties are always provide raw data for interesting and novel analysis, whether it’s something like this, or confirmation bias, etc.
Got Whynot. Though I expected FFF.
Well, this poll is just for a half eps, so it isn’t a total poll.
I think FFF just needs to use simpler sentences and easier words.

It seems to be a close call for me, but after looking at all of answers, FFF seemed to be first or second in most cases. When first, they often led by a wide margin in my estimation. I especially like these lines from question 5.
I must be pretty smart.
So you’re getting smart with {\i1}me{\i0}?
I’d suggest avoiding WhyNot’s. I just finished watching their episode, and I swear they had more typos in this release than I found in all of last season’s reviews.
I’ll take your suggestion into consideration. I guess the downside of translation parties is that they don’t focus on spelling/typos, while emphasizing sentence flow and (if you know Japanese) accuracy.
