OP. Yes, the official lyrics weren’t out when they did this song by ear, and for that reason I’m willing to be understanding. But come on, the line they guessed here doesn’t even make sense in Japanese.

ED. They did a pretty good job with it, but this could also use a little fix-me-up from the official lyrics. For example, the “gangan” here is actually supposed to be “Gun! Gun!” Also, too, I lucked out in getting this karaoke effect for the ED, the one where they don’t allow you to read every syllable in a line at the same time.

Main Script.

 

Jingi Naki Furaggusen is actually parodying the title of the yakuza film series Jingi Naki Tatakai. However, I’m thinking they didn’t want to make a riff off the (sigh) official translation of the title and go with “Capture the Flag Without Honor or Humanity” because the name wouldn’t fit in the space provided.

Hah, thought you could sneak that past us, didn’t ya, Anime-Koi? I also got a whole bunch of other things to say about that offending mask, but I’ll just limit myself to saying at least clip it at the black border.

Kami wo shibaru would just mean “tie one’s hair,” and indeed, in the following sequence of hairstyles, there were only one or two that counts as “putting up” the hair.

I like how they rendered the objection against the appeal to atatte kudakemashou (“Let’s go down shooting” in A-K’s release). That phrase means “take chances” or “go for broke” in normal use, but since it contains the intransitive verb kudakeru (to get smashed), it’s a non-starter for Blondie.

Here, Yurara suggests atatte hajikeru, which would literally mean “hit them and explode” as opposed to the “hit them and get smashed” that the previous suggestion (atatte kudakemashou) implies. But since the literal translation sounds idiotic, all the groups had to play around and do a little script writing with this line, with this particular one leaning towards the “meh” territory.

Yep, whenever subbers hear the word tsuyoi, they immediately write down “strong” whether or not it makes any goddamn sense. Just use “good,” as in “That chess team is good!” or something in the similar vein.

I like the added spite they put in this line.

So, you’re in a war zone and your commander has just given you an order. How do you respond, soldier?

Final Grade: A

Despite the fact that they didn’t translate a portion of a sign which only contained sentence fragments anyway, I didn’t see any real mistakes as far as I can tell. They also did a good job in keeping the script flowing smoothly despite all the Blank-chan-senpais that came our way.
