I’m going to assume that whoever handled the script and whoever handled the capitalization and punctuation were different people. That’s the only way this release makes sense.

Visual Review
Karaoke.
Opening. The Japanese text can get annoyingly in your face, but other than that, the color choices make sense, and the radioactivity symbols add a nice touch. I also quite liked the English font; the noise (or whatever you call it) fits in quite well.
Rating: Good.
Ending. When scenes changed, the karaoke appropriately matched it, but I’d say the standout portion of the ED was how Anime-Koi handled the quick-talking bit. As you can see from the second screen, they completely changed it up, opting for more of a framed experience.
Rating: Good.
Typesetting.
I’m rather neutral on group logos in general, but this one was pretty cool — it lights up perfectly with the title sign.
And… that’s it.
Script Review
Karaoke.
Hey, men, it’s dangerous here.
Hey, men, there stands
an angel still not used to it
No one watches the play on this chaotic stage
An angel covered in wounds and dirt all the time
There’s no perfection and there is no rest
Not even in rejection
It doesn’t matter whether you believe or not
Yes or no?
What happened to disposability?
What happened to throwing it away?
Let’s just hold our ground, all right?
The cowardly crybaby may start whining
But still she fights with all she’s got to prove herself
For what do I survive and struggle
It can’t be only for myself
I can’t just live selfishly
Because I’m an angel
She’s just a human, and she doesn’t care
I’m just a human, not some doll
If I ponder too much, my solitude just gets worse
But if I don’t ponder, that’s as if I didn’t exist
Far, far I will walk
Because the deepest parts of my heart can’t be ruled
Until the end, until I fall,
I’ll taste the endless sadness of the world
Rather than laughing oblivious,
I’d rather know too much
But stay human and humane
The dark odds of the road are against me
But I still have to walk
Because the deepest depths of my heart
Can’t be ruled
It’s easy to think, but in reality you’ll get crushed by it
What exactly am I?
Another of my brutal everydays dawns
And I just walk on
Rather than laughing oblivious,
I’d rather know too much of sadness and futility
But stay human and humane
The only way anyone could find these translations acceptable is if they didn’t read them.
Main Script.
I’m not going to insult your intelligence by explaining why these are wrong.
Inexcusable incompetence.
I -> we
Remember that he’s speaking on behalf of the group.
You can use “our” with proper names, sure, but only in certain circumstances. e.g. “Our Samantha is six years old now!” And even then it sounds a bit off. (It really only works if you throw in an adjective like “little” there or something.)
Here, they’re not using “vice-principal” in the sense of his name, but rather in the sense of his title (because it would be wrong otherwise). So it should be lowercase.

If only there were punctuation one could use to ask a question. And if only it was acceptable to put it alongside an exclamation mark.
Alas, I don’t think the English language will ever advance so far. I’ll let you off this time, Anime-Koi.
Again, that’s not how you handle this situation. Use “class president” in lowercase.

A-Koi’s release would be solid if someone decent translated the OP/ED and if someone actually did their job as QC. But as it stands, this release is too shaky to justify choosing over Vivid’s.
Dark_Sage, I thought you are gonna review ep4?
But I am gonna assume you didn’t check our site because returnity who edit this project was AWAY he didn’t even edit UMD for FFF this week. So our backup editor did this episode. Please check the website
Your responsibility to let him know, not D_S’s to go looking for.
Last time I checked with him it was episode 4 on the review queue.
It said Episode 4+, not Episode 4.
http://puu.sh/5bycM.png
LOL… Did I say I checked the “site.”
Last time I checked with him on the IRC.
I just checked my logs. I said nothing of the sort. Last we talked was you asking me not to touch episodes 3 or below.
My standard operating procedure is that I’ll tell groups which episodes I won’t review, but unless they’ve already released the episode, I won’t tell them what I’m going to review. This is to prevent people from putting effort into one episode just to look good and then fucking off for the rest of it. I try to keep everyone in the dark to keep things fair.
Furthermore, the credits in your subs indicated nothing was different.

So he doesn’t want you to review 1, 2, 3, or 6, only the “approved” episodes (4+5).
Yes, those two are very representative of the rest of their work.
It is on the site.
Hey, you released it. It’s not even v0 or anything. No excuses.
Your argument was on the ep 4+. Can’t change the topic to something else, plz.
It’s so stupid to say “our backup editor edited this” bla bla bla. If you go for backup staff, then accept the fact that there’s a chance the episodes they work at get reviewed. Honestly…
Don’t forget that A-Koi uses the shitty AT-X airing. denpa wants them downloads!
Is there any better raw that airs earlier?
Or you know, you could just wait for the BS11 airing.
Well, not like it matters since your encoder is fucking terrible.
Welp, this page escalated quickly ( ¬‿¬).
Oct 02 22:52:28 it can be helped
Oct 02 22:52:31 use bs11
Oct 02 22:58:34 and get no dls?
Fuck, the comment system nuked the original comment.
http://i.imgur.com/nhbo35W.png Image since I’m too lazy for escape codes.
Yeah, it doesn’t like when people try to use HTML. You can always just throw me the stuff on IRC and then I’ll edit it into your comment.
Why use bs11 when the show is crap. at-x is perfectly fine for this garbage of a show, but I did laugh at the “dl” part.
Why use good subs when the show is crap? Hadena is perfectly fine for this garbage of a show.
(¬‿¬). Knew a comment like this would come. Sadly, Hadena ain’t doing it, otherwise this would be an even greater laugh.
They might have better encodes.
If you knew you sound retarded before posting, why post?
Did your stupidity rot your brain?
>at-x is perfectly fine for this garbage of a show
Considering how much detail (and animation) this show has, no, AT-X is not fine at all for this show.
Fine for me. As I was stating, I’d rather watch less quality in detail/animation for this than waiting an extra 2-3 days. Then again, since it’s so shit in my point of view, I should just wait for the other groups to release since it doesn’t matter, right? Nope. Too many shows to watch.
TL;DR if it was a better show, I wouldn’t mind waiting.
No one is forcing you to watch it.
Did I say I was forced? I watch pretty much all anime and drop as I go by.
1. Quality > Downloads
2. Anime-koi will get DLs no matter what.
3. The encode is the same level as the script; they balance each other out.
But seriously, I ROFL’d on the DLs part.
The larger your download count, the larger your e-penis, said the great leader of HorribleSubs.
Stop trying to be cool, we can see you’re crying

FYI Hulu isn’t any better.
I originally suggested to do v0 with AT-X but some other staff didn’t like that idea so this is what we ended up with. I would actually like to do BDs of this to make up for the decision as I know a lot of people were upset with it.
And thanks Dark_Sage you reminded me I haven’t seen the eye doctor this year so I made an appointment.
>Hulu isn’t any better.
You sure?

Out-encoded by Hulu?
fuckin onwed nerd get rekt
denpa best QC!
The effect in the OP is called “grain”, though “noise” is also somewhat acceptable, though that often means something is unintentional.
I’m glad i’m a timer, else I would feel really bad about myself… poor denpa ¬‿¬
lol Dao ¬‿ ¬
No Fun zone for yous, please leave
who are u asking me to leave.
I told Layton I couldn’t edit this week’s episode, so of course you’d wind up reviewing that one. Go figure lol…
He should’ve informed Dark_Sage beforehand.
This group is just fishy as hell.
I noticed their Coppelion ep1 word choices and phrasing were suspiciously similar to CR’s, and their Tokyo Raven ep1 was a blatant CR edit when they have some random translator credited in their website.
Probably just edit/TLC offical subs for everything.
>This group is just fishy as hell.
<3
I’m sure vale would take offense to that incorrect conjecture, as would horimakenji…
It doesn’t actually bother me returnity. What I did was as a hobby, so as long as I know I’ve always tried my best for the shows I covered, that’s all it matters to me.
Not to mention going back to a full-time job that just spirited me away somewhere for a week of work and just getting back home gives me even less incentive to bother about how fishy people think I smell :P
I smell sadness
CR is doing Coppelion and Tokyo Ravens?
8thSin,
That’s rather some harsh comment from you when vale spent hours translating each episode weekly. It’s just this one episode neither the translator nor the editor were present because of their real life issues.
I asked D_S to review one of the previous episodes on irc a couple of weeks ago.
Who was present?
Your Tokyo Ravens Ep1 was without a doubt based on ripped subs or someone copy/pasted most lines from official subs when it was claimed to be an original translation. This group lost credibility already at this point in my eyes. Then you get this random translator and editor shuffling… How can it not be fishy?
I’m not saying all Coppelion were rip edits… but Ep1 at least seemed to be influenced by official subs (I watched this before Tokyo Ravens so I wasn’t even in suspecting mood) in a way that was not seen in what can only be true originals like Kyousougiga.
This can happen unconsciously from watching HS while translating or editors TLCing against official subs. I don’t know who did what, or if Viz translator just so happened to have the same style (though not very likely).
Also, it’s irrelevant how hard or long someone worked on their translations. All that matters is the end product. You guys knew it was simulcast and decided to waste your own time.
8thsin if you’re referring to TR then:
I’ll be honest here Layton, but you had the original TL set as “Code-Zero” before.
Cuz we switched to it ;)
Yeah, only after 8th said it was an edit/TLC of Funimation’s script.
Are you trying to deceive your “fans” to get downloads or what? (shotsfired.m4a)
They only credit a tler for ep1 at their site. They switched to funi after that. It’s that simple. Jesus.

Rofl
How can you TLC your own TL?
Code-Zero might just be ElyasRay v2.
I find it hilarious hoe you can even say that. Idk about Tokyo Ravens, but Coppelion sure isn’t a rip, and the only episode that was rip for coppelion was episode 6.
The amount of drama on this page for things nobody should actually care about is astounding.
A-Koi devs: Please. If you release something, you’re saying it’s up to the standards of your group, and it’s fair game to judge you by it. If you want to get something out on time, but aren’t sure the work is good enough, release a v0 and let people know this is only for the leecherfags who can’t wait for a proper release.
The people arguing about AT-X: Yes, AT-X is shit, and using that as your raw for the sole sake of getting more downloads is laughable and pathetic. But you know what, who gives a shit? If you’re fine with eye cancer encodes, then you can watch their release. Otherwise, the fact that their release exists shouldn’t affect you in any way.
8th: No offense, but does it really matter who they decide to credit for their work? It seems like half of the fansubbing world nowadays consists of nothing but rip edits, so while going the extra mile and crediting yourself for work you didn’t do is throwing away the last vestiges of any kind of “fansubbing ethos” you might have had, it’s really only par for the course. You’re making a mountain out of a molehill that doesn’t actually affect the quality of the release.
I am not an encoder, but I download Hiryuu stuff and they use ATX source for their projects too. I don’t see version 0 in their releases.
ATX will always be ATX but it is got the uncensored stuff for us ero leechers.
B-But e-penis.
B-But e-penis.
Apparently there are people who actually care if a release is a stream rip or an original translation, and if certain groups are caught lying then that would be something to consider. I know I would be pissed off if I was reviewing a release thinking it was an original translation when it actually turned out to be a CR edit.
Damn right!
To the administrator of this site, can you review one of the episode with the original translation. Because I archive those.
I saw they mention that this episode wasn’t done by vale (I’m big fan of his works) on their channel. Any reason why this episode was picked?
But even so I see the grade is C for a backup editor I guess it is not bad. Looking forward to a review with their main editor.
