Here’s the methodology behind the poll options, for those bored enough to care:
I watched the OP/ED for every regular show airing this season (short shows excluded because a 30-second OP is much different from one that goes on 3x as long). Figured this post wouldn’t be worth much if I didn’t give everything a shot.
After each watch, I rated them based on how much I liked the Video and Audio, then gave them a rough composite score, weighted toward the upper end. Here’s how it looked:

Ah, so you took the visuals in the OP/ED into consideration as well? If so, then yes, I’d say that there’s a lot of better ones out.
Nobunagun because of the shadow visuals are crazy and “respect for the dead man” is appropriate for the show. Mostly the song.
Noragami because I like Supercell…
Sonico ED2 is not really a representation since it seems it will change every or nearly every episode. Ya, i watch it when I am bored. Spoiler: it is a show about tits.
I’m all about the changing EDs. It’s like a mediocre K-On. (Before anyone starts, fuck you, K-On was great.)

The latter is alright, but you can never have too much metal in anime. Last summer’s Watamote has a great metal OP, but I think Mnemosyne’s 2008 OP by Galneryus has yet to be topped. Though I’d love to hear any contenders.

I’m partial to the first Mirai Nikki OP.
Trying to think of other metal anime songs and aside from the Maximum the Horomone songs from Death Note nothing’s coming to mind. I’ve got lots of Japanese metal, but not much from anime.
Thanks Anon! I wasn’t a big fan of the vocals and remembered the fusion more than the metal from my original watching, but now that I’ve got decent headphones, the Mirai Nikki OP is growing on me. I found a sub of the full music video version which is headbangingly good.

When it comes to Nagi no Asukara, you mean the 2nd OP/ED?
I didn’t get too specific in everything that I wrote down essentially as notes. Whatever the latest episode is is what I watched.
Weak season for OPs. Nothing really stands out. In winter 2013 we had Nekomonogatari Kuro, Mondaiji, Tamako Market, and even more that don’t immediately come to mind that were all fantastic. This year there’s basically nothing for OPs and as for EDs the best thing is the first half of the Space Dandy ED, then it goes to shit too.
Here’s to Spring being better in both OPs and the shows themselves.

I probably would’ve voted Z/X Ignition for the OP if Sage had found a video that hadn’t been butchered to foil the Youtube copyright bots. Seriously, I think I need to go get a power drill to get that shit out of my ears.

The only other choice I had was cutting the OPs/EDs myself and finding a video player plugin for the site.
Obviously, that was too much effort, so I had to put up the only thing I could find.
But yeah, loved the OP. Just wish they kept up the cool bits throughout instead of cheaping out halfway with episode visuals.
Second Golden Time ED’s easily the best (though Mikakunin follows shortly after).
The walking on compass-clock bits were cute, but nothing else really stood out to me.
I picked the most popular option for both. Never felt so pleb.
The best ED is Tonari no Seki’s, and although I’d rate Mikakunin and my vote Nobunagun’s OPs above Tonari no Seki’s OP overall, it’s still the only OP I’ve ever laughed out loud at.
Drummer Akira Jimbo performs the ED on a school desk like the the MC does! Cool beans.
