This show is everything that’s right with Japan. The subs? Not so much. Probably because they weren’t made in Japan, but don’t let the facts get in the way of my catchy intro.

Visual Review
Karaoke.
No karaoke, of course. But it’s sugoi songs like the one in NGNL’s OP that make me really wanna let my inner faggot out and spazz around wildly while trying to scream out lyrics I’d have no hope of transcribing on my own.
And that, really, is the one reason we all still watch fansubs, isn’t it?
Typesetting.
Nothing amazing, but this is the best they could do with officialsub limitations. I’d clap for ’em, but one of my hands is busy giving this show its due. Anyone wanna high-five the free one? I think that’d suffice.
Script Review
Main Script.
You mean “matches”? This line makes it seem like the tourney was a race to see who could finish a bunch of games the quickest. And while speed solitaire is the hypest shit around, I don’t quite think that’s within the scope of this series.
Oh god. Where do I fucking start with a line so stupid?
You know what, I’m just gonna easy mode it with “We just got to this world.” The reborn bit ain’t 100% necessary to convey in this specific line.
How are basic words so foreign to this TL? It’s like writing out “knife” as “sharp object I should stick into my eye because I am butchering a fucking kawaii show about what Yu-Gi-Oh would be if Japan hadn’t decided to exploit collectors and gamblers with a poorly balanced TCG”.
“I can’t lose my new home.” (And if you don’t want to use “home” because you don’t think it’s pure enough for this line, you can use “place of residence” in its stead.)
If he’s dead, which he is, you mean “late king”.
Strictly speaking, it is.
“Nor is it a place where a con artist should be handed the throne.”
“getting help” is not nearly damning enough to warrant this being such a hype moment.
Try “Especially not one who’s in the back pocket of another country.” Treat the show right, plz. It’s not often Japan puts out something that makes me lick my monitor.
When referring to a phone from the perspective of someone who’s never seen one before, I don’t think “scrap” is the right word to use. It infers too much about their understanding of its build.
I’d keep it as vague as possible with something like “That weird boxy thing…”
This whole sequence is just a mess.
It’s not a place where we can hand the throne to a con artist, either.
Especially one who’s getting help from another country.
>What do you mean?
You don’t know?
Like, for example,
if you gave the crown to someone who
worked with the elves and used magic to win,
this nation would be screwed, right?
Great script to release unedited, huh, Commie? No worries, I’m sure Vivid staff will jump in on this thread to defend your brilliant decision as they always do.
How outsourced is this translation? Just because he said “Hai” doesn’t mean it automatically maps onto “Yes”.
Go with “Great” or something better suited to the personality he’s playing at here, like “Hooray”.
The TL’s mind must have skipped a few beats when it came to standardizing line stutters. About half the stutters in the show are replicated in the script, and the others are noticeably absent.
Bleh. “What? You mean ‘miss cool beauty con artist’ won’t save her friend?” works a lot better as a spoken dialogue equivalent.
For those of you who like to keep track, we’re not even 4 minutes into the script, and that’s including the minute and a half of the opening. So in the interest of brevity, I’m gonna only put in a few more selected lines after this point. I doubt either you or I could keep enough interest in this post if I pointed out all the bad English decisions in the release.
Don’t use an idiom if the imagery doesn’t sync up. A “tournament” isn’t going to have “holes”.
Well, unless it’s a golf tournament I guess. Or a… bagel-making tourney… But no others. Probably.
If “Imanity” is the term for “humanity”, then why is “Imanity” also being used to replace “human”?
“They’ll have planned out a game” -> “They’ll have a game planned out”
The fixed line implies elf-san & pettanko-chan took action rather than just tossing around ideas.
She’s trying to convince them here, not make the situation sound terrible.
“Once we’ve got the territory we need to sustain ourselves,”
“I’ll break ties with the elves.”
And I’d break bread with her flat tits if you know what I mean. And by that I mean I’d have diplomatic relations with them. And by that I mean holy shit tsurupettan is justice.
He uses “little sister” in place of her name in like every goddamn sentence. In cases like these, you should capitalize. And yes, I know it looks stupid, but that’s only because it’s calling more attention to the term, which is never really used in English conversation. So you’re damn right it’s gonna seem off.
I’d go with “Sis” if you’ve gotta use something, although “Little Sister” will suffice.
How great would it be if they just started touching tongues in this scene? I mean, come on. You couldn’t even drink all that sexual tension through a straw. Not even one of those big ones they give you for shakes.
And I’m talking like the super big ones you get at sketchy mom-and-pop restaurants, not that pathetic Johnny Rockets-tier shit where they keep the size as small as possible because some bean counter MBA jerkoff thought the extra quarter of a cent saved on each straw was important enough to ruin my motherfucking Butterfinger shake, Johnny Rockets. Seriously, how the fuck did you expect me to drink all those goddamn Butterfinger bits through your jank-ass straws? Fuck you.
Good thing I speak Japanese, or this line would have confused me.
Oh wait, I don’t speak Japanese? Well then fuck you, Crunchyroll!
There was a questioning inflection in how she delivered the line and the sentence itself would make sense with a question mark, so maybe you should have taken the hint?
“Together, the two of us are Blank.”
I would also accept, “The two of us should <blank> together.” Canon ships are the strongest.

This is not a script worthy of the show (which, admittedly, I am overhyping). It’s still enjoyable enough with this level of English, but I think you’d enjoy it more if your brain wasn’t spinning in the background to convert everything into a more sensible format.
>It’s not often Japan puts out something that makes me lick my monitor.
maybe if they stopped making http://puu.sh/8xeYj.jpg the background it wouldn’t look so tasty.
>The two of us should together.
Please stop being so lewd.
>Great script to release unedited, huh, Commie? No worries, I’m sure Vivid staff will jump in on this thread to defend your brilliant decision as they always do.
I work for the competition on this show, so not really.
And if you think I was defending Commie on any of your recent posts, you’ve got serious reading comprehension issues.
I should get around to re-reading all the Tamako Market comments; I couldn’t really keep track of everything the first time I read it.
You’re like a retarded tsundere that doesn’t even know his own surroundings.
In fact, let me post the only time I’ve commented on Commie here pretty much all week:
“I feel like Commie’s NGNL could be more solidly edited (I remember several crappy lines from the CR script in ep2 that went untouched), along with Chihiro’s Soredemo Sekai and Hitsugi no Chaika (the latter had blatant errors unfixed and the timing practically gave me eyecancer), and I felt Anime-Koi’s Soredemo Sekai was over-edited if anything. I haven’t watched the rest, so no comment from me there.”
Wow, all that defense. But yes, I’m sorry too that reality tends not to agree with your brilliant zingers. Bad reality. You’re always getting in Dark_Sage’s way.
Xythar, you’ve pretty much spent the past week here whining about how unedited scripts are just super duper sugoi. If there is a group that exemplifies such sloth any more than Commie, do let me know.
I’ve done nothing of the sort. You’re retarded.
Please fix that before taking stupid potshots in your articles at things I don’t do, because it just makes you look like an idiot.
Actually, you know what?
In your own words, this is a site site “solely dictated by reality”:

So, please link me all these posts I made across the last week whining about how “unedited scripts are super duper sugoi”. You can do it, right? I’m sure the great D_S would never pull anything out of his ass.
I’ll be waiting.
>The reason I don’t begrudge groups their “fakesubbing” is because as long as the script isn’t actually edited to be worse, I’d rather watch a “fakesub” over HS any day. Clearly you feel otherwise.

This post is also pretty good because you continue on with complaining about how I don’t post here enough. I think it’s kind of flattering your only issue with me is that you want more Dark_Sage.
>I said it was a valid option, actually. In practice, I’m nitpicky enough that I end up editing most things anyway, but I certainly don’t mind if editors don’t want to fix what isn’t broken, and I would in fact prefer it to a script that edits a bunch of things unnecessarily and makes the script worse (eg Anime-Koi’s Soredemo Sekai ep1).

The cognitive dissonance here is astounding. By not editing, your cohorts are saving the scene. But if I don’t edit, I’m killing the scene. Top-tier braining, Xythar.
>If a script is fine to begin with, leaving it alone is a valid option, and probably the safer one unless you’re working with a TLC.

Another fun post, because you seem to think calling someone a Republican is an insult. I don’t tend to vote that way, but I don’t think your line would be as offensive as you think it is anywhere outside of a tea shop.
So there you go. References. Want me to show you where to cut too? I could draw the dotted lines on your veins for you.
So, by “spent the past week here whining about how unedited scripts are just super duper sugoi” you actually meant “made three posts across a four-hour period last Tuesday containing such controversial statements as ‘not editing a script is preferable to adding TL errors’.”
This is why I said you’d make an excellent politician. The truth is as putty in your hands.

You’re the one who’s said you’ve been commenting all week, D_S just took your own words and changed them closer to reality.
Are you going to say “STOP TALKING TO ME!” to D_S too because you’ve been proven wrong?
Xythar circa 2013: http://puu.sh/4Oxi3
Straw rant best part.
Also:
>He uses “little sister” in place of her name in like every goddamn sentence. In cases like these, you should capitalize.
I don’t see why, unless you also believe the following lines are A-OK:
Hey, Old Man, get over here!
What’s your problem, Bitch?
Yo, Asshole, the fuck you looking at?
Nope, they all look like shit, just like writing “little sister” in caps. I don’t care if a character’s name is basically “bitch” or “asshole” because they’re never referred to by anything else – it still looks retarded to capitalise it. And Shiro even has a name.
I could go either way on “Sis” vs “sis”, but maybe only because I’m used to seeing it capitalised in anime. I used to use “Big Bro”, but that looks pretty shit as well, so I generally go with “big bro” and the like these days.
>“Together, the two us are Blank.”
I don’t like this because it places the emphasis on pointing out that they form Blank when put together. When the point of his line is that they are Blank together.
It’s a subtle difference, yes, so I understand if it flies over your head, but it’s an important one nonetheless.
Yeah, I think capitalisation is a contentious issue in these circumstances. I mean, technically, a direct address in place of a proper noun should be capitalised, as D_S suggests, but at the same time, capitalising things like insults (while standing in place for a proper noun in a direct address) looks pretty weird in sub form. I think it’s one of those that can go either way and aesthetically, using “little sister” without capitalisation looks far more appealing than with caps.
I’d also advocate using “little sister” if he’s a little condescending or aloof because it can be used in English, but only as a way to highlight the authority of the older sibling. I haven’t seen this show, so I don’t know whether it works in this context, but I could see it working well generally as characterisation.
Not particularly. If you watched the show you’d understand that MC-kun and MC-chan are siblings, and the story revolves around how their sibling love will overcome all obstacles as they glare and go Geass-mode-without-the-Geass on everything.
I addressed the aesthetic issue because it does appear as an issue on first blush, but maybe if you realized it’s gonna be a term of address used throughout the show, you’d change your thoughts on it. English is pretty fucking clear on this point, regardless of whether you’re using American English or the other kind.
You say it’s clear, but doing a Google of direct address capitalisation, I’ve found a number of sites with real editors (like, pros, I mean) saying that it’s “Yes, sir” over “Yes, Sir.”
Now I’d argue what’s the difference between that and saying “Yes, little sister.” I can see the reasons for both sides of the argument, in that familial addresses *should* be capitalised (Mother, Father, Sis, etc) – but as you said yourself, you wouldn’t use “little sister” in English generally, but it’s used for emphasis, in the same way you’d use “old man” (which isn’t capitalised according to several dictionary sites as it’s an affectionate term, even if it’s a direct address).
So basically, I’d argue that it’s a contentious issue with capitalisation. I think it’s just another one of those cases where grammar rules are sufficiently illogical that it allows more than one reading of what’s correct.
Ooh, now this is interesting. Do tell me, friend Xythar, how “little sister” is an offhand insult when used by a guy that’s more into incest than the entire Game of Thrones cast. I mean, you do understand capitalization rules, right? It’s the same reason why we Americans capitalize “President” when referring to Barack Obama. I’m not sure what you Australians have, but I take it you capitalize your great leader’s title too.
That being said, the rule isn’t just followed when used for terms that indicate respect. In Diabolik Lovers, for example, one of the characters calls MC-chan “Little Bitch” (Koku would probably want this to be “Little Slut”) in place of her name for the duration of the show.
While it looks out of place at first, even someone as dim as you can understand the rules behind it. And they’re very fucking clear about capitalization, xythar-chan.
Ah, so clearly “I’m proud of you, son.” should be “I’m proud of you, Son.” because “son” is being used in place of a name and isn’t an insult.
Please impart more of your great wisdom upon me.
You’re right. “Have some flowers, Mother.” is much less preferable than “Have some flowers, mother.” Right? I mean, that just looks so good to you, doesn’t it?
Learn to proper noun, you idiot. The only reason “son”/”little sister” etc. look out of place is because without a clear context, they appear as one-offs. When used for an entire series, it’s pretty clear what standard should be used.
And if you need help on basic English (which you obviously do), try reading up on it a bit:
http://dictionary.reference.com/help/faq/language/g71.html
I’m not sure whether literacy or suicide will kill what ails your brain, but perhaps you could try a bit of both.
Hey, Bro! Good day, Sir. How are you, Ma’am? Sup, Dude? Fuck you, Bitch!
Yes, all exceedingly natural and correct. You have opened my eyes.
(Just because there’s a rule for handling “mother”, “father”, “grandfather”, “grandmother”, “aunt”, and “uncle” doesn’t mean you can apply it willy-nilly to anything that might ever replace a name.)
Again, you are completely ignoring context. If a show has a brother address his sister as “Sis” for the entirety of it, you’d be an idiot to put it as “sis”. If your argument revolves around “Hey, nobody says ‘Hey, little sister’ in English”, then all you’re doing is relying on cultural differences to make things appear off when standard is pretty clear here.
There’s no perfect point when you switch from lowercase to uppercase (English has more than a few faults), but using something as a long-term name almost always necessitates capitalization. I’ve been arguing this same point for years and I’m not sure why only now you chose to take issue with it, when you’re so obviously wrong. Hell, this point is so fucking set I don’t think you could even find a style guide that argues your point.
No, the rules of capitalisation are not based on how many times the term comes up in a script. English doesn’t work like that, Bro.
Some words you always capitalise, some you never do, and some have a grey area. And seeing as how you already ruled out all external references and style guides in a previous article, I’m gonna stick to what doesn’t look retarded.
Except family titles *are* in that gray area.
It’s true that the amount of times they are used in a script is irrelevant (although, it’s certainly correlated with the actual issue).
What matters is whether or not they are used to specifically address someone in place of their name.
“Can we go to Disney World today, Dad?”
“Why is there a man trying to break into the house, Mom?”
“Let’s do the nasty as soon as we get home, Little Sister.” (or “Sis” if you prefer).
All of these are valid in English. What’s more interesting is that other name replacements (insults and terms of endearment especially) aren’t capitalized.
But family titles? It’s almost unanimously agreed that you capitalize those when used as direct address in place of their name.
Actually, even insults or terms of endearment could probably be capitalized if they were used as a nickname.
Grey area, perhaps, but I don’t think “Little Sister” works for the same reason you don’t see people capitalise “Son” (as above).
I wouldn’t consider it objectively wrong, but I definitely wouldn’t consider it objectively right.
I think the main problem with words like “Little Sister” and “Son” are used so uncommonly in English as address. Even if it might work grammatically, it’s so foreign to our ears as English speakers that it just comes across as strange.
For siblings and children, we just call them by their names. Most of the time when we call someone “son,” it’s just used as a catch all for boys or young men. And that really wouldn’t be capitalized as address.
So I can see your point. Personally, I would go for the “sis” option and probably even capitalize it just because it’s used with enough frequency to be considered a nickname of sorts, but I could see it being left lowercase as well. After all, Sora does refer to Shiro by her name too.
The Americans are doing it wrong(tm) then, because it should be “the president” and “President Obama”. I’ve even seen a site that suggests it should be “the president of the United States” but I’ll grant you that it’s more likely to be a title there, so I’d write “the President of the United States”.
Refer to my post above for my opinions on the other bits.
>I don’t like this because it places the emphasis on pointing out that they form Blank when put together. When the point of his line is that they are Blank together.
Can your writing get any worse? Scrap this line and try again. This time, try convincing someone more literate than your typical Aussie.
Wow, if you strip the emphasis from a line based around emphasis, it becomes meaningless. Good job! Have this gold star and fridge magnet.
Not even going to bother arguing your point? I’m willing to offer an alternative rewrite if you can suggest what’s wrong with my version. But if you can’t articulate it, I’m going to assume it’s good as-is.
I did say it’d probably fly over your head. That’s okay, though – I’m sure anyone with a triple-digit IQ will understand just fine.
No, don’t dodge. If you’re right, lay out your argument and I’ll change my line accordingly. If you can’t, I’ll take your silence for admittance that you have no idea what you’re talking about.
I laid out my argument already. It’s not my fault if you can’t understand it.
you two make the perfect couple
They really do~
They’re adorable.
Still waiting for that DSxXythar fanfiction : )
Plz no. Xythar’s like a real life yandere but without any of the Yunoliciousness that would make him tolerable.
Oh don’t worry, I’m sure you two would sort it out in a peaceful conversation <3
I dunno, he seems like the kind of guy who’d kill me and wear my skin to bed.
That’s a form of love too.
If we were to assign roles in that relationship, who’s who?
That is an excellent question elenrod.
DS called him a guy, so maybe he’d be tsundere girl?
I think of them as a yuri couple where Xythar is a responsible and book-smart twintailed tsundere who teases D_S because she doesn’t know how to show her affection, and D_S is a chuuni who believes Xythar to be part of the evil organization society trying to take over the world and engages in chuuni battles with her, but is secretly appreciative of the time they spend together.
Loli or not? Twintails are a must, yes?
>I think of them as a yuri couple where Xythar is a responsible and book-smart twintailed tsundere who teases D_S because she doesn’t know how to show her affection, and D_S is a chuuni who believes Xythar to be part of the evil organization society trying to take over the world and engages in chuuni battles with her, but is secretly appreciative of the time they spend together.
Stealing this one. That all right, Etoce?
Although, to paraphrase a line from Oshiroi Hana, ‘I wonder if it’ll work if they’re boys.’
I’m not sure what you’re stealing it for, but whatever it is, I’m sure it’ll be good.
This thread just became infinitely more glorious.
I think I understand what he’s trying to say.
The point he’s making is that “Together, we are Blank” sounds like a general statement of fact to him. It’s just a definition, or something they’d announce to the crowd.
“Wh-who are you guys?!”
>”I am Sora, a virgin who’s way better at social interaction than I have any right to be!”
>>”I am Shiro. I’m just really smart and adorable and stuff.”
>>>”And together, we are Blank!”
Whereas he finds that saying “We are Blank together,” is more reinforcement. Shiro is reminding Sora that Blank only works if they act as one. So he wants the emphasis around the word “together” instead of “Blank,” and feels that your suggestion puts said emphasis on the latter.
Essentially, regardless of sentence, together probably needs to be italicized for emphasis.
Wow. Xythar actually explained it to me when I essentially said the same thing. I wonder why…
Separate, they are useless. Even nearby, they still have clear strengths and weaknesses. [When they work] Together, they are [Blank], the gamer able to even defeat God. I’m not sure how you would think “We are Blank together” fits better than that.
*slight nitpicking* It would be nice if they use italics or quotation marks or something using “Blank” because kuuhaku represents their blank account name and isn’t the actually name.
I agree that little sister shouldn’t be capitalized. He’s always going on about “my cute little sister” “my smart little sister”… and he does call her Shiro often enough. I think as long as they changed it to “my little sister” or “dear little sister” or something it would be fine.
Side note: I’d consider any of the three examples under some circumstances. For instance, Assassination Classroom has a character called “Bitch-Sensei” when it’s not her real name, and if a character calls his father Old Man instead of Father, Dad, or Papa, it makes sense to capitalize. Asshole would work under similar circumstances to “Bitch-sensei” – that is, someone saying “From now on I’ll call you Asshole”.
Obviously, there are places where they work and places where they don’t work, so it’s silly to imply that it always works or always doesn’t work.
>I don’t like this because it places the emphasis on pointing out that they form Blank when put together. When the point of his line is that they are Blank together.
Mind rewording that? Don’t wanna comment on that until I actually understand what you’re talking about.
Well, look at it this way. In my opinion, if you phrase it as “Together, we are Blank”, it puts emphasis on the fact that the two of them are Blank. But we already know that, and it’s not really the point of the line. The emphasis should really be on the “together” part – that only when they are together are they Blank. So basically the line is not just Shiro reminding him of who they are, but saying “You don’t have to do this on your own. We’re in this together.”
That’s the way I see it, anyway.
I see what you’re saying now. Only problem is that I can’t think of a line that conveys that…
What about ‘Meat’ (i.e Sena) in Haganai?
That’s a nickname. “Little Sister” is not.
If it specifically takes the place of a real name, it’s a nickname. In the subs, since Sora calls Shiro “little sister” in place of her name, it’s a nickname. On the other hand, calling someone “dude” isn’t a nickname, because it lacks specificity, unless you’re referring to Jeff Bridges’ character in the Big Lebowski. Normally “dude” wouldn’t be a nickname, but because that’s just what people call him, it is. The fact that “dude” isn’t usually a nickname doesn’t change that.
Nah, it’s not a nickname here because you can’t use it in place of her name in every context. See below for examples of this (though I think you did already)
Also, D_S greatly exaggerated how often he calls her “little sister” in the show. It turns up all of twice in the episode 3 script.
Blasphemy! He was called “the Dude” in Big Lebowski. Adding the definite article makes the nickname ;)
I think it’s due time we rename the website to morexythar.net
“crymore.net” already covers the xytharing really
Seconding.
>And by that I mean holy shit tsurupettan is justice.
Wait, what? Since when?
I thought you were all about them busty onee-sans not so long ago.
I am. But there are many forms of justice in this world.
Reasons why I visit crymore:
1. D_S x Xythar – I just love reading the comment section thanks to these guys.
2. Actually looking for sub reviews
Shh, don’t say that, or D_S will take another three weeks till he posts more fansub reviews : )
Sub reviews? Where?
So much hate up in hur up in hur, I’m gonna loose ma mind up in hur up in hur.
>Japanesiness: “little sister” over “onee-chan”.
Did you make a mistake here?
Thinking a bit more about this, it might just be that capitalisation is required for titles or nicknames used to refer to someone outside of a direct address, not recommended for titles that can’t be used to refer to someone outside of a direct address, and in the grey area for whatever’s between.
For example:
I heard from Bro that you’d be late. (correct)
I heard from bro that you’d be late. (definitely wrong)
Thanks for the tip, bro.
Thanks for the tip, Bro. (Both acceptable, I think. The first one can either be used as a friendly greeting between men or to address one’s actual brother, but you wouldn’t use the second unless it actually was towards your brother.)
Thing is though, Sora only uses “little sister” as a direct address, so he’d never say anything like:
“Little Sister told me you’d be here.”
“Have you seen Little Sister? I can’t find her anywhere.”
He’d just use her name, Shiro, because he uses “little sister” as a term of address and not as a nickname. So, I would conclude that as it is not a fully-fledged replacement for her name, it should not be capitalised.
When you put it that way that sounds more correct than what I was thinking.
til
Extrapolating all of this further, wouldn’t it be easier to emphasise the strangeness of saying it in English by putting “O sister of mine”? :D
Of course, the “O” would have to be capped, so I suppose that doesn’t alleviate issues, and it’d be a wild gamble on characterisation without fully knowing his motives for calling her “little sister” – whether it’s a normal type of address (in which case, just Sis would work best), whether he’s condescending (you’d probably plump for “my little sister” over “little sister” in that case) or whether he’s being purposefully flippant (which would be the “O” line).
I think a capped “Little Sister” looks weirder to our eyes in English than anything else. I can’t think of any text I’ve ever read that’s had it capped like that, even when it has appeared (I’m thinking it’s probably used in To Kill a Mockingbird, though maybe Scout is used throughout as an address).
Dark_Sage PLEASE review Commie’s version of “Bokura wa Minna Kawaisou” Look @ this shit bro!: https://imgur.com/a/ZRzdT
>punk’d
Jesus, Commie. Shouldn’t you guys be working on your 401ks rather than pretending like you’re still in high school? It’s 2014.
I wasn’t so keen on the “we weirdo now” but everything else was fine imo.
I don’t know if the context would help for any of them but only the Oscar one seemed fine to me because that kind of localization is alright
That one’s completely valid though because なう is a Twitter term (meme?) used to describe what you’re seeing/doing. http://dictionary.goo.ne.jp/leaf/jn2/162725/m0u/%E3%81%AA%E3%81%86/
The only alternative I can think of is “atm” and it doesn’t fit so well with the line.
Interesting. You learn something new everyday.
Twitter doesn’t immediately come to mind when I hear “atm” or “we…now,” so I think hashtags would have been a more appropriate choice. This popped up in Azazel, and we used various hashtags that we deemed appropriate for the context.
なう used to be the thing that every Japanese user put on their tweets, and hashtags were the closest in that aspect within the context of English-speakers.
Yeah, that’s not a bad idea. Though somehow I suspect it’d get even more complaints…
So mad.
I’d say “why don’t you just wait for CR instead”, but then they used “punk’d” as well.
Did they really? That’s awful
People are too prepared to jump on any questionable line in a Commie script without seeing if it was even close to a valid choice. That’s the root issue here.
I’m not going to say that every localisation/meme usage is fine, because I’m sure you yourself can go through some Commie scripts and find things that straight-up shouldn’t have been there.
You edited Bokura, didn’t you, Xythar? I trust that you put good thought into how to use those kinds of things proper, so I don’t generally question it too much.
Yep, though those lines were mostly from the TL. Usually when I see something like that in the script I assume it’s there for a reason, because Futsuu generally doesn’t throw in memes just for the hell of it.
Mhm. And CR generally doesn’t get off on trolling its userbase with their subs. Wouldn’t make for a great business model.
I blame Japan for making animu that panders to the otaku memesters >:
That always works.
Yeah, I always find it funny when people who spend all day on the Internet watch shows targeted at other people who spend all day on the Internet and then complain when said shows contain references aimed at people who spend all day on the Internet. It’s like they want that stuff to be censored out of the translation or something.
This is the only place on the internet I visit where I see any memes. Except when I google memes I see here to figure out wtf people are talking about, though I’m not inclined to complain unless the meme in question was put in on the English side and is inappropriate to the scene.
I can see the siblings in NGNL using a lot of memes…
I haven’t trusted a single word Commie have used since Eotens, and I never will.
Eh. Margaan waving around his dictionary is something else entirely to what Commie usually does. See: ITW’s NouCome. That’s Margaan too.
Lmao this guy rides Commie’s dick so hard.
You must be new. I only call it as I see it.
I blame commie for ruining Girl und Pantsu. I never trust any of their works since then, While

Are you talking about the track with German in it? Because there was another track called No Fun Allowed or something if I remember correctly.
True, but http://www.crymore.net/2012/11/21/fansub-review-commie-girls-und-panzer-episode-03/
Huh? I dont know anything about the track. maybe i’ll just add that, Thanks.
Just goes to show why the A+ label is shit and means nothing.

hur dur I hate Commie because they put that single word in my free illegal anime that totally ruined it and now I will never trust them ever again because they’re COMMIE bwaa bwaa 。゜(`Д´)゜。
Either you who complain are a fag, or you’ve trolled me hard (congrats).
Though I must admit, Eotens..hahaha…..
Eotens is the word that I will always remember as the most hilariously bad translation done in a show. I think Commie staff argued that translation in this site when the show was airing, and it was so damn fun reading it.
That was just a tongue-in-cheek dissertation Margaan wrote one day when he was bored at work. I don’t think he even intended for it to be published, but it was a fun read all the same.
If you guys wanted to see people flip their shit, job well done : )
I was kind of expecting people to find it interesting/amusing more than rage-inducing, but I always underestimate the ability of people on the Internet to get mad for really dumb reasons.
>I was kind of expecting people to find it interesting/amusing more than rage-inducing
Clap it up for your self I finally figured out the FUCKING genius behind Eotens you are my new object for hatred FAG.
People don’t give a FUCK about interesting/amusing just translate the FUCKING script correctly stop adding in your OWN BULLSHIT COMMIE.
“Eotens” I hate that word so fucking hard.
That’s basically replacing Eren’s name with CockSucker and expect people to find it “interesting/amusing” YOU GODDAMN TROLLS.

Phew, I really needed this all that hatred inside me from Eotens finally out of my system.
Apparently you also can’t read, because I never said anything about being responsible for the actual manifesto or Eotens itself.
But it’s pretty clear from your posts here that you’re not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed.
I don’t particularly mind offending people like you. Especially people like you.
I guess I can better understand the ability of people on the Internet to get mad for really dumb reasons if I assume half the leechers out there are 12 years old like this guy.
Some are adults with the mentality of a 12 years old kid.
Deep down, we’re all chuunibyou?
Did you just insult yourself? Wait, you don’t need to reply. You did.
It’s hard to trust commie nowadays but they seem to know what they’re doing with hq so I give them a pass this time.
But I hope d_s would reviews hq next tho I still have my doubts.
Okay, I’m really drunk right now, so what is hq?
I’m guessing Haikyuu.
…that is an acceptable abbreviation.
Yep, it’s haikyuu. People on tumblr use that abbreviation so I kinda followed them.
Anyway, they switched to original tl from ep 4 onward so you might want to review that instead of ep 1-3.
That made more sense when it was TQ for Teekyuu. Doesn’t work as well for Haikyuu unless you write HiQ or something.
Yep, I thought about that too but like everyone use the hq tag for haikyuu so I just.. Followed.
Arriving way late to the scene, but jumping over to ep 4, around 16:34, Sora says “I say a third time.” However, “mitabi kurikaesu” has a more “archaic” wording to it… would the translation “I shall say thrice.” work better instead? just curious on opinions from expert grammar nazis, as a newbie scanlator.
and yes, I know there’s so many issues with ep 4 translation as well as ep 5 too. maybe even ep 6 coming out today. but that’s ok since I only watch raws, hehehe. i prefer faster releases.
“I’ll say (it) thrice” means you’ll say it three times, not for the third time. Maybe “Thrice have I told you” though that implies that she’s said it three times before, not that she’s saying it for the third time. You could probably work “thrice” into a sentence, but making into one that’s easy to digest on first viewing is a bit of a mission (as it is when you inject any archaic terminology into a script).
What do you make of how CR localized the shiritori in ep 6?
