Brynhildr is the kind of show that relies on a shock value that’s only impressive if you’ve never watched a “real” anime before. I’m going to pretend the same logic does not apply to Elfen Lied, which remains a 10/10 in my book.

Visual Review
Karaoke.
Opening. Not translated. But I can sort of understand why, since this is the song in the OP:
Too bad I’m gonna hold it against Mezashite anyway.
Ending. It’s not outstanding, but it gets the job done well enough.
Rating: Good.
Typesetting.
Pass.
Script Review
Main Script.
To be forgotten is worse than death. To be remembered for shitty subs, even worse.
CR’s version gets the job done far better than Meza’s lazy effort:
People don’t vanish from this world the moment they die.
Their true death is when they are forgotten by the living.
What, like each other? Keep ramping up the fanservice and this show might turn tolerable, Japan.
Meza, make the scope of the question more specific: “All right, who here has kissed someone before?”
Don’t want people thinking this show is better than it actually is.
“beat me on points” -> “outscored me”
Subs are more enjoyable when the conversations can be construed as normal.
If you’re looking for another line that ties these two together, you’re not gonna get it. Mezashite are kings of edging.
Awful. The point of this particular exchange is that MC-kun is pointing out how Kuroha cried at the sight of the beach, not that she was crying on the beach.
The way Meza has it, she could be crying for any goddamn reason. Maybe she spilled her spaghetti-o’s in the sand — we don’t know as-is. (The sad thing is that would be more tragic than anything that’s happened in the show so far.)
The first line is rather easy to fix: just change “judgement” to “orders”. But that third line requires a bit more…
“I hope you understand that not even your death will pay for failure here.”
Japan really needs to give me better scripts to play with.
She already expressed surprise in her first statement. I get that memory loss is a major theme in this show, but not to this degree.
“Oh, drat.”//”It seems I killed them all.”

Watchability: Watchable.
Visual grade: B
Script grade: B
Overall grade: B
Despite a few stumbles, Meza put together a rather compelling package with this release. You’ll do just fine with their subs for Brynhildr no Gokuku.

I’m told the OP is in English, so you could always transcribe it for them!
So it’s all English? I thought they were just screaming. Never listened to anything as horrendous as this OP.
That task would be more suited to someone who speaks native Engrish, like yourself.
Really? I listen to it and think there’s japanese in it.
It’s not even remotely intelligible to me, so I’m just going off hearsay.
I very much doubt anyone could translate/transcribe that song without bullshitting the whole thing.
the couple japanese people i’ve asked have heard a few intelligible japanese words in it. not much more than that. if lyrics ever come out tho, ktiming will be alot of fun.
Why would you want to ktime that?
How come you’re just doing this show and Mekaku City Actors (from what I saw in the review queue), how come you’re not doing Mahouka reviews?
Mahouka’s still in-scope, per the review queue. If you’re talking about the “review order”, I limit that to three releases for brevity — doesn’t mean they’re the only reviews I’m gonna do.
Actually, wait, no it isn’t. The show was too awful to spend thought on, so I dropped those reviews.
Brynhildr’s actually bearable, cuz I can fap to the scenes in between the dialogue. Mekaku… I’ll probably drop those reviews, even though I’ve already started them. What a terrible fucking series.
I honestly doubt anybody cares about those two shows anyway. The only reason they scored high on the polls was due to pre-season hype. So either get started on the Summer preview or do reviews for actual good shows (ex: Soredemo, Chaika, Nanana). What you should’t do is waste time fapping because anyway you look at it, site content has been rather sparse lately.
The new season is in a week. Don’t count me out just yet.
>good shows
>Soredemo
>Nanana
You’re contradicting yourself.
I understand Nanana, but what’s wrong with Soredemo?
Soredemo is good. Nanana on the other hand isn’t.
Soredemo is pretty much the best shoujo of all-time. Nanana is bad…but only whenever Tensai isn’t on the screen.
>Soredemo is pretty much the best shoujo of all-time.
lol.
Agreed, Tender Rain was probably the best anime this season (and maybe kawaisou, sans its ending). Can anyone recommend something similar?
>best anime this season
Except it’s airing in the same season as Mushishi and Jojo
Something similar? Uh, pretty much any shoujo ever. Kamisama Kiss is a good one.
He was implying that both were bad.
>So either get started on the Summer preview or do reviews for actual good shows (ex: Soredemo, Chaika, Nanana)
Why would he do fansub reviews for those shows now?
Let’s see:
Soredemo: Your options are Chihiro and A-K. I believe they were both disqualified for being fakesubs.
Chaika: See above.
Nanana: Your options are HS and FFF. I think FFF is a safe bet.
I’d rather reviews be done when it’s not easy to tell which option to take because multiple groups are doing a show and their release are quite different.
Pretty much.
I’m working on the Summer 2014 preview now anyway.
Can’t wait to see where 9/11 the anime shows up on the preview.
“’m going to pretend the same logic does not apply to Elfen Lied, which remains a 10/10 in my book.”
What are your other 10/10s?
My actual (read: what I put on MAL) rating system differs from… well, everyone else’s that I’ve seen. Basically, 10% of everything I complete gets a 10/10. Then 10% gets a 9/10 and so on and so forth. And I get the scores by ranking and re-ranking series.
So, giving you an answer would be giving you a long list of series. And it’s been so long that I can’t even vouch for the accuracy of a top-10 list that I’d come up with off the top of my head. I should probably get on cleaning up my scores…
That sounds so retarded it’s awesome. What’s your MAL?
http://myanimelist.net/profile/DarkSageRK
It’s way, way, way out of date, though.
>Mushishi 1/10
>Kino 10/10
I’m not sure I’ve ever not evened this hard. Also, a hearty lel at your location.
>Mushishi 1/10. D_S, please…
Nvm. I don’t see Mushishi at all. I swear I did.
it’s on there
Yeah, now I do. Idk why it was glitching for me. Again, D_S ;_;.
Much like Hitler did not apologize for killing the Jews, I will not apologize for having impeccably good taste.
Shit taste confirmed.
Think you made a mistake with:
ef: A Tale of Memories.
giving it a 10/10, easy mistake boxes can be easy to misclick.
We have high compatibility according to MAL, never seen that before
>Mushishi 1/10
Finally another person who doesn’t think this garbage is god’s gift to the earth in anime form.
Go watch Pretty Cure, that’s the anime for you.
<3
Mekaku City Actors; Asenshi or Commie. Somebody please tell me.
horriblesubs
Never mind, I just downloaded both releases, compared the script, and what I found out was; Commie is shit.
dat OP
Asenshi
>Keep ramping up the fanservice and this show might turn tolerable, Japan.
I dunno, man. Seems like at least half of every episode of this show is dedicated to fanservice as it is. Not sure how many BUY THE BDs onsen scenes we need.
They could spend the entire non-battle portion of the series in the onsen and the battles could be focused around ripping clothes off the enemies.
Better yet, have battle scenes inside the onsen.
The entire series could take place in a town that’s actually a giant onsen.
Just set everything in Iceland. Job done.
More.
