Karaoke.

Opening. Yeah, the kara’s hardsubbed as is the norm with Hatsuyuki, but it’s pretty kawaii. Look at that effect~

Rating: Good.

Ending. Even if they can’t do anything else right, Hatsuyuki tends to make some damn fine karaoke. They got triangles and shit moving around… and uhh… it’s good cuz they’re triangles…

Fuck, I’m starting to think straight jpegs aren’t gonna cut it anymore. I should look into webm’ing this stuff or something. There’s only so many ways to describe karaoke over the 900 fansub reviews on this site. (Yes, really.)

While many groups forgo plastering their logos all over an anime, in today’s fandom most people don’t even know what a fansub is. So Hatsuyuki’s decision to brand their releases will undoubtedly pay off as people remember their name and come back for more.

In fact, just a few days ago it was their 6-year anniversary. Let’s see how well their decision’s paid off.

Script Review

Main Script.

I bet you could fit a third sentence in here. Put another ESL editor on the script and I’m sure the magic will happen.

What even is this?

If that dialogue didn’t make you cringe, I hope you stay a solo player forever.

Looks to me like they all have physical guns. Well, you know, as much as a gun can be physical in an MMO.

Cowboy-kun doesn’t know anything about cloak-kun — he’s just speculating. Make his speech assumptive.

You mean “fire at will”. Kinda hard to “open fire” with a sniper rifle. This shit ain’t Halo.

Even if you were to replace the middle line with something as awful as “Like shooting ducks at a gallery,” the worst part of this dialogue would still be the dialogue as a whole.

I wanna know what has to go wrong in a person’s life to make them write scripts like this.

The TLC, editor, and QC all agreed that this line is good? The Trinity of Retardation wasn’t just a legend after all!

Try something a bit more in-tune with what a normal person would say.

“I knew it. These subs suck.”

If you’re gonna be slow anyway, just edit off FFF’s script, Hatsuyuki. At least then you’d have some decent lines for everything you’re too lazy to change.

FFF: “If it’s just a game, at least be brave enough to run towards the guns and die!”

I could write this off as a cute nickname rather than a mistake if they didn’t refer to him as “Behemoth” in every other part of the script.

Hatsuyuki didn’t change too much from the 200-line Crunchyroll script, but what they did made it worse than the original. Even ignoring what I pointed out here, the script as a whole is painful to get through.

Unless you’re way more into karaoke than a human should be, Hatsuyuki’s SAO II release should be avoided like people avoid their site.
