OP. What in shit’s name happened here? Otherwise it’s fine.
Edit: this is what the lyrics are supposed to look like on the right player.
Insert: They did a good job on the mimicopy, and there were only a few places where I disagreed. Here it should be rikaisha (supporter) instead of [puts on glasses] mikaisa?
Here, I really don’t think the two girls are singing the same lyrics. I heard Junna singing something along the lines of maketsuzukeru no wa munashikute (I feel empty losing all the time), but don’t quote me on that.
Main Script.
NITPICK
That was the Geoff the Giraffe speaking, and I doubt he’s taking part in the auditions too.
WTF
Karen says “No problem” in English, so that has to be translated into French because why not?
OKAY…
This is Futaba being “urban,” because why not?
ERROR
Like I said in the Sentai review, Junna says she’s going to complain and get the results invalidated.
ERROR
The David Lynchian giraffe simply says “Because [Karen] participated,” not that he approved of her participation. He was alluding to how Hikari is trying to insert her emotional baggage into the auditions.
COMMENT
What a bunch of Karenidiots, which is a made-up taunt just as tryhard as this one.
NITPICK
“Do you remember the steps?” This line was uttered after the teacher warned a student not to look at her feet.
COMMENT
This group decided to use a common nickname for Claudine when Karen calls her “Kuro-chan,” which is a move I applaud.
NITPICK
Junna is just saying “Why are you getting in my way if you weren’t chosen?” which I think conveys her faint-inducing bewilderment in this scene.
ERROR
“We have to overcome them, or we can’t share the stage.”
The full line is Hoshimi-san ga itteta mitai ni koete ikanai to issho no butai ni wa tatenai (星見さんが言ってたみたいに超えていかないと一緒の舞台には立てない). But the translator here put a period between koete ikanai to (not overcome them) and issho no butai ni wa tatenai (cannot stand on the stage).
But the whole phrase put together is the Japanese double-negative imperative construction. The translator correctly renders the first part of the phrase, but leaves the second part in isolation.
COMMENT
They decide not to typeset this phone, for good reason since the English is already on here.
ERROR
But for some reason, they decided to leave these signs alone. I suppose we’re supposed to guess from the visuals.
ERROR
Karen says minna wo starlight shichaimasu (みんなをスタァライトしちゃいます), in which the “wo” particle implies she’s going to actively convert people into… starlights I guess.
This also follows Karen’s stated mission of turning everyone (or at least her and Hikari) into stars instead of letting one person dominate the stage as the headliner.
NITPICK
More like “revenge match.”
COMMENT
At first I didn’t know what she was talking about here, but I guess she was referring to the structures behind her.
COMMENT
Apparently the opinion is divided on whether Maya said 見せる (miseru, to show) or 魅せる (miseru, to enchant).
WTF
There were no dialogue or signs to justify this.
Other Observations
When you don’t have time to use /clip.
Final Grade: B
A definite improvement over Sentai, although it does have it share of errors. The fact that the insert was translated gave this group a leg up as well.
You buddy what media player are you using to get the KFX like that?
MPC when I should be using MPV like all the kids do nowadays.
Yeah, probably. lol
Will you be reviewing Starlight Subs too?
Yes.
